Hey,

I have some pictures from the ride coutesy of veteran_youth.

I wasn't there though 'cause I had to work and my leg is messed up anyways.

Hope you don't mind me putting these pictures up Maki.

:)

Looks like it was a lot of fun, I will make sure to get off work early next CM.

So this total ****** in a City T.V. "Live Eye" truck decided to buzz me on Queen this morning. He was in a HUGE hurry to get to the red light 75 meter's up the road. he raced past me with about 6 inches to spare...honking his horn and yelling obscenities out his window at me. I honestlt don't think this is the kind of behavior City wants from their truck drivers...especially after such a tragic week for cyclists in this town. My question....I am going to call City and lodge a complaint against this clown. I know how much of an effect cold calling with a complaint is (I will do it anyway but prolly will result in nothing) I was wondering if anyone out there in B.F. land knows anyone who works at City that could hook me up with the proper person to discuss this arses attitude withÉ Anyone.

cavernmech 04-29-06 07:45 AM

And on another note.... can anyone tell me why my question mark looks like this... É

STEEKER 04-29-06 07:47 AM

call city TV and complain and call city hall and traffic division and I will look for a link BRB

Had i noticed earlier i would have headed downtown with you. If you deal with cycle solutions east you’d be in my hood around Vic Park & Danforth?

I did some bombing around the back field /tracks/pit didn’t bother to wear my lid(bad me) or carry my backpack(tools) got a bad sunburn on my forehead & a flat tire 45min walk home that will teach me!
Cheers

Re: the city truck incident

Not that I actually know what I am talking about, but perhaps you might consider speakers corner?

Ok I need people to put their thinking caps on. I have a bike (possibly a few) to ship to the states. Im looking for options besides GREYHOUND courier, that are inexpensive. Anybody here shipped a bike to the states at a good price?

STEEKER 04-29-06 05:45 PM

There are a million of them as you know but at my co. we use fed ex ground (not fed ex) as our daily shipper call for a quote i know they are cheaper then canpar, puro, ups. Actually Canada post as well never know. I’m sure there are more options.
Cheers

[QUOTE=sweep242]There are a million of them as you know

Actually.. not that I know what I am talking about but, my experience has been most of these companies dont do packages as large as bikes. Or they only cater to high volume customers.

Im thinking about canada post but putting bike in a few boxes, one for the frame, one for the wheels.

Any other reccomendations are welcome, I guess im looking for a gorund service that would take oversized boxes, once anything goes air the cost goes up.

Another option to speakers corner.. again not that I really have any clue what I am saying..might be approaching another station or something like NOW that is allover such unPC acts. Once again im not expert, and I proobably have no clue what im saying.......

The Shimano bmx cogs/ are they prone to noise? if not something is screwy with it and any night rides around town?

Creative packing can get the size down. I've had bikes shipped north USPS and FedEx. My recollection from other discussions (and you may want to search this) is that shipping Canada -> US is more expensive than the reverse.

Anybody catch this poll asking 40 regular Toronto bike commuters by the Globe & Mail yesterday?

A few interesting findings:

I have an ACS claws freewheel that ratchets like a mad thing when I coast on it, so I couldn't hear anything remotely cog related anyway. Does it make the noise when you're loading it or coasting?

    STEEKER 04-29-06 08:05 PM

makes the noise loading annoying but I live with it

Talk about biased polling. Didn't realize Will ride through anything was a class of bike.

    gboy 04-29-06 08:20 PM

^^Well, it was an informal poll, and the interviewer probably chose bike commuters who are professionals and/or office workers rather than blue-collar workers; so the responses were self-selecting in that case. But I think it reflects the visiblity of bike commuters vs. regular joes who bike.
