DSR = Devil Strip Rollers. DrBenway came up with the name last year when he and Will started running the sprints. We liked the name and the website is really handy for using as an umbrella for all sortsa bike related stuff. So far we have the DSR Group Rides, DSR Dirt Edition MTB nights in the Don, and the DSR Go Fast Go Straight (or something like that).
Think of it as the Kiss Army without the makeup or heels or bondage apparel... ok on second thought it's nothing like the Kiss Army ;-P |

It *was* fun!
Thursday: Toronto --> Barrie Friday: Barrie --> Thornbury Saturday and Sunday --> cottagey shenanigans/waiting out the cold and rain Monday: Thornbury --> Waterloo Tuesday: Waterloo --> Oakville We took the Go Train back to Toronto from Oakville to keep all the fun without all the Mississauga. |
Contador broke his elbow and the next day rode to second in the TT at the Giro. That's crazy.

I did actually ride out of Don and up Pottery with the separated shoulder. Not sure if that was too smart. |
how's that shoulder feeling now? how else could you get out of the don if you didn't ride?

Shoulder feels good, hope to be able to start riding early next week, have the Heart and Stroke ride on the 1st I need to be ready for. Might have to do the 75k ride geared this year. |
"The TORBA Umbra Launch Party happens Thursday May 22nd, 6 pm, at Umbra's Concept Store located at 165 John Street, just north of Queen St. West, in downtown Toronto. Join for a fun evening of cocktails, trials demos in the store, live music, and meet the staff and community of Umbra, our founding sponsor."
The official launch of the new Loblaws trailhead is also this Saturday. I'm probably going to head down. There's going to be a trail building workshop and a Kona demo tent as well. http://www.pedalmag.com/index.php?mo...&item_id=13431

Toronto traffic is new perfect compared to Milano traffic.
Rules here, see gap, take gap. Speed limit, just a start. Parking all taken? start double parking. its crazy... like really really ****ing crazy. i saw 4 cars fit through a gap barely big enough for the 3 of them... guess what the result was, think comic yup they all got stuck, had to get the toes trucks pull them out, they were so stuck they couldn't climb out the windows... oh man it was funny Right near where im staying there is a R1 (motorbike) that was dropped, its a shame, such a nice blue. |
I'll always remember how commonplace it was to have your mirror smashed off in traffic.
That and bumpers literally used as bumpers/battering rams when parking. |
Back from Ottawa... woo. Highway 37 upto Hwy 7 has some beautiful scenery to ride through, really changed my opinion of "old rolling hills boring farmland" Ontario (no I didn't ride this time, I was on the Greyhound :) - 4.5 days without being on a bike is very weird)
Thanks Jeremy for that early pickup, if you've anything still left let me know... Hope you're all good for the 1st, Pyze - heal up! Decided to ride at lunch to find a flat, wtf methinks - was fine this morning, I shall have to closely inspect the rim, boo-urns for pre-hometime flat :( I'm trying to aim for the memorial ride tonight, I've got to fix a flat, 33 miles to cover and a post office to visit beforehand though :p |
If you've seen No Country For Old Men, this is gold: http://fourthgradegladiators.com/awesome/?p=7. Probably wouldn't be nearly as funny if you haven't sweated through the normal version, however. :)

Also ouch/lol at the chainbreak/after-incident.
Anyone else going to this? http://www.bellsonbloor.ca - I'll probably go, if I have my wee munchkin I'll bring her along too. |

Also: my super cheap deal$ of the day: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3286/...1a91214674.jpg Craftsman 15mm stubby to fit in the seat bag - $2.99 ordered from sears.ca. Planet bike "Peace Pump" mini-pump - $8.50 surprise find @MEC -- not something I would use daily, but only 74g when tossed in my bag, and looks like it'll do the trick in an emergency. |
