Argyle AND a twitter feed? How could I not love them? http://twitter.com/TeamSlipstream

Certainly contemplating a road (air) trip to Tokyo, would love to go over there at some point. Depends on timing/the successful return of my citizenship application in enough time ;) Would also love to check out Chicago using the NACCC as an excuse. And I'm planning to do the TdC by 2010 too... Damnit.

Does anyone have a longer Nitto quill stem (pearl or dynamic) 100-110 for sale or trade? I have a new Nitto dynamic 9 90mm, 26.0.

I think I'm going to make some MTB wheel covers for polo. Anyone have mallet instructions?

I have a bunch of old golf clubs (courtesy of Pyze), if you need any.

I would definitely be into it, but I never seem to be able to find time to play it. I enjoyed it a lot the times I played it last year.

Never played but would love to try, if there are n00b pickup games somewhere I'd love to come along and give it a whirl.

Was weird when you came up on my side this morning Wes, rare that anyone catches/stays with me when I'm on my jaunt across College so I was quite surprised to see someone in my shoulder-check before I recognised you ;)

PS, stupid cold weather forcing pants on the situation :(

I have a 110mm 26.0 3TTT quill stem if you want...

I enjoy it a lot but I'm weary of playing since I bruised my ribs playing a few weeks ago... I don't mind taking risks like that generally speaking if it's worth it but not being able to do the things I like to do otherwise may not be worth it for Bike Polo...

With that said, I'm sure I'll be playing again by next week. :D

I'm throwing my Fuji track back together as a beater/polo bike, just have to make a mallet and I'm good to go!

I did some research (on the Internet!) and I think I've found a solution to your problem:

Simple fall - put my mallet in front of my wheel and down I went... just landed wrong, that's all.

Like I said, I'm sure I'll be back out again in a week or so...

Forgive my ignorance ... I always assumed front discs went on polo bikes for *ahem* "ball thwacking moves" but is it actually to prevent Rennick-like bails?

I have a Nitto Pearl 120. You know you want it.

I don't know the reason people do it, but I know that I would not enjoy a mallet in my front spokes.

ctfinnigan 06-19-08 08:34 PM

So in the past three years of riding bikes around town the one problem that seems to plague me is the truing of my rear wheel. Damn thing won't stay straight. I don't know if it's 'cause I'm a little big (6'2", 200lbs.), because I ride it hard, or maybe I don't know how to take the bumps of the road.
Anyways, I was thinking of getting my rear wheel trued up soon.
On my fixed right now I'm riding a Joytech (sealed) hub, with 36 spokes threaded into ERTRO/ALESA rim (MAKE IN BELGIUM, it says). It all came on my bike when I bought it last month on CL.
What I'm wondering is...is this a quality set-up? (I've certainly never heard of these brands before). I was thinking of maybe just buying a new wheelset but how much does a good one cost?
And today on CL there was this: http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/725346223.html
I'm thinking $89 bucks ain't bad. But is it a good deal?
Sorry if this screams noob. Feel free to just flame helpful links.

operator 06-19-08 08:40 PM

Joytech = bottom of the line
Rim = generic no name bottom of the line

Get a good handbuilt wheelset on something strong like the deep v or aerhoeads laced to a good hub by a competent wheelbuilder.
