Jet: They look nice for the money, and they are italian, but I'm not convinced they're any better than the Formulas that came on the bike. Not for my purposes, at least.

These are all brand new except for the 16 alu which has a bit of wear. Pardon the high price but I would prefer to keep them and it isn't worth it to me to take less than that.
On another note I had a great ride home from Wes' tonite....except for the d00che cop who thought it would serve the public interest to give me a ticket for running a red light. The funny thing is I didn't even run it. I made a full stop then proceeded as the opposing light went red. The second thing he said to me was "can I see your drivers license" I responded with "no you cannot see my drivers license but I can provide my Health card for identification purposes". He tried to get all gestapo with me, insisting on my drivers license upon which I informed him that firstly I am not required to provide a drivers license while riding a bicycle and secondly that I would pass on having to deal with going to the J.P. to get the inevitable points removed from my drivers abstract. He then told me that i would lose the points whether I gave my drivers license or not. I laughed in his face....told him he was a 2 bit excuse for a police officer...and that I would see him in court. I am really surprised he didn't cite me for something else as I was a difficult prick with him. What a fricken joke. He seemed taken aback when I informed him that cyclists only lose points on their drivers license when they are too stupid or uninformed to know the law. |

How did he catch you? bike cop? Probably could've out-run one of those fat-asses on a bike ... hehe |

Motorcycle. You really think I would stop for a bike cop? They would actually have to be able to ride their bikes at a normal pace, which of course they are unable to do. I was tempted to bolt anyway but those years are well past me.

I was on my S.S. not the track bike. If I had have been on the track bike he wouldn't have been able to catch up. |
For whoever was looking for Oury's, I *think* Bikes on Wheels in Kensington had whites in stock, don't quote me on that - brain isn't upto par right now.
Bleh that sucks K, must've just been having a bad night and felt like being a dink - rolling through the changeover is something I do on an almost every-light basis. Turds. First ride after 5 days off the saddle, felt nice and homely. I decided not to don the fenders today, despite last night... Got in with the good old sock-level grit/silt lines all over my legs... tasty. Kergin, 20k in winter I'd prefer on the fixed rather than a geared bike. Despite the seeming stability of an MTB in say last winters crap, I much preferred the control of the fixed wheel. I don't know your route, so I dunno if it'll be reasonably passable, assuming a winter like last, but I found it OK to ride last winter in just about all circumstances - that riding was basically all on major routes within the core though (I did go to 400/7 one afternoon/evening, that was 'fun' ;)). I think I only had one 'weather' day that kept me off the bike. |

I have a set of Formulas and they don't spin nearly as nicely or as long as the Miches. That is a super-unscientific way of determining hub quality but I can turn the bike upside down, spin the Mches are they go for close to 4 minutes. The Formulas are under a minute.
Yes, I had nothing better to do and timed this once. Someone kill me. |
^^ then my chainline or something else must be fuk'd. I'm almost 80% certain its the chainline: Campy Chorus road double running a Miche 1/8" track ring on the outside of the spider on a 113mm BB. With the SRAM PC-1? chain, this setup was tolerable, but with this new Miche chain, my bike sounds like a machine gun.

The Miche's use a 6001 bearing which is about as big a cartridge as you will find in a hub. Formula's use a much smaller I.D. bearing. I always believe that more bearings, or a larger size, makes for a more durable hub. Miche comes with a dry axle out of the box. A dis-assembly of the axle assembly with a liberal re-greasing will keep the problems to a minimum.

wow crappy deal with the cop... maybe he should have been busy ticketing the 5 cops on the golf cart running stop signs and street racing down at the CNE tonight....
we pulled up next to them and they told us to slow down (so we passed them) then they proceeded to race to catch up with us, while yelling stuff, then they yelled at me to stop for a stop sign, then they ran it (on the wrong side of the road)... then one proceeded to stand on the side of the car and lean out, almost flipping it when it cornered (i crossed my fingers, but it didnt flip). they looked like college drunks, but in police uniforms, on a police golf cart. |

Regardless - there are more important things that prick should be doing than writing opportunistic tickets. What a waste of the system's resources: idiot cops write tickets which aren't really important, which in turn get fought, which costs taxpayers even more money... Why the hell don't they do more important things, like patrol bad areas such as Moss/Regent Park, Bloor & Lansdowne, or Vaughan & Oakwood? Oh yeah, that's hard work and giving something to the community. I bet this fool even checked off the box where it says, "vehicle involved".

Really? I like my Primato hubs a lot. They spin forever and they look pretty sweet to my eye.
Nerdsgirth, saw you riding east on Harbord tonight, what frame is that? It looks like it has a sloping toptube; nice. I woulda yelled but I was in a car and I hate when people yell at me from cars ;) Totally got my slope on! 4130 with slight slope. Polly cycles, currently named "zombie" frame. She is a fine bike. I wish you saw me coming back with a record stuffed in the back of my shirt. so aero. The perfect adhesive combo of acetate and sweat ftw. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3112/...379862.jpg?v=0 |
