Who'se good at organizing that sorta competition.... can't burn out folks too too quickly, and we need to make sure final riders are equally rested, or tired.

Sprints
Track Stand
Full Loop?

Seconded. We can have some other side events ie: trackstand.....but head to head keeps it easy. Singlespeeds can race but they have to take their brakes off?

STEEKER 04-24-06 02:08 PM

do the Spit loop circit racing for the fastest time. sprints too as well

TRaffic Jammer 04-24-06 02:11 PM

If we go with a loop we'll lose sight of riders, it is still open road.

Race format is not too hard....I have done ton's of em. Hard to carve anything in stone until we have firm numbers. Depending on such we might have to do 3 or 4 up format with loser's going into a repechage. Heats should be in multiples of 4....keeps it easy. So if we get 20 racers you have 10 heats of 2...winners move on. Then ideally 2 repechage heats....with the winners of those moving on. 12 winners into semi's.....3 up heat's times 4... winner's move on. Quarters....2 up heat's times 2. Final's etc.....but know I am rambling. You get the gist.

TRaffic Jammer 04-24-06 02:23 PM

cool..... we have working knowledge.

STEEKER 04-24-06 02:35 PM

we could still use the school track up on Cosborne at night

TRaffic Jammer 04-24-06 02:41 PM

hmmmmmmm

somnambulant 04-24-06 02:53 PM

if i'm racing on my fixed i'm keeping my front brake on.

i think it would be interesting to do one whole loop of unwin/commisioners, etc with about 4-6 racers in each heat, top two advance. that way it's not a full out sprint, you lose sight of the racers yes but you can at least see them finish down a long straight.

say you have 20 racers, with heats of four each if two advanced in each heat then even the winner would only be doing the course 4 times.

i dunno, now we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Joe Bent 04-24-06 03:15 PM

a lot of posts... hell ya. Here's one more. If you're still looking at making that track your own (someone said there's a lock on it), cut off the lock and replace it your own of the same likeness. Who the hells going to think of checking? All track, all nude, all the time... I've said too much.

jeremywhitehorn 04-24-06 03:16 PM

now for something completely different; on the subject of strangest movie ever, i came across this one while doing some research for work.

I just picked up an Under-The-Weather bag from the Bike Joint, and I just want to give Sam some huge props for great customer service. I was going to buy a bag off the site, but I decided to email first about shipping and handling since I could just pick it up from some place in Toronto. Sam replied to my emails promptly and had the bag to a bike store within blocks of my house within 2 days. Like veteran_youth, UTW is a peach. A big juicy peach.

P.S. this bag is awesome.

32flavours 04-24-06 03:21 PM

Speaking of weird movies, has anyone heard of that new Samuel L. Jackson flick called "Snakes on a Plane" or something? Google it. It's so bad it seems like a giant joke. A giant multimillion dollar joke.

And he and Anais are great people. And they give bags to just about EVERY race on the planet (including ours:rolleyes: 0) And they run an environmentally friendly shop. And they are local. And they do great artwork. Yes....I am a fan.

You ruined almost all bags for me after your "truck tarp liner isn't sandwiched between layers of cordura" comment. I wonder if UTW or PTE would do that as a custom option ... pseudo X-Strap would also be nice.

I'm such a bag wh0re.

operator 04-24-06 04:14 PM

My UTW bag owns yours.

Better a bag ***** than a crack *****. I love a good bag. I am also a bag snob. Most folks will not have too many issues with any good mess bag. If you are actually messing with it some are certainly better than others. I LOVE my PAC...but we have been together for many years now. I also love UTW....but in more of a "friend" way.
I can't believe wh0re is censored. Thats biblical dammit.

Don't worry we can just revert to the irc hax0r ways of bypassing naughty word filters. Somnambulant sux0rs.

cavit8 04-24-06 06:53 PM

Sprints sounds good. Or give everyone a billyclub and have a mass start.
