Cavernmech - I'm looking for a 1" threaded fork with room for widish tires and fender eyelets, for use with a long reach dual pivot. do you have anything like that? i prefer to stay away from those replacememtn 27" forks made of cheap tange or hi-ten or whatever. something a little nicer.

edit: speaking of jeremy's.. Darkmother? Are you still alive? :)

ahhh..darkmomma's been debating fixed riding in the commuting forum. posts from i-like-to-bike make for very amusing reading... and i quote:

"You are confusing hate for skepticism of the practicality for commuting of a trendy equipment fad among afficianadoes that has little, if anything, to do with bicycle commuting."

uh, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.. ok back to fecking work.

TRaffic Jammer 03-23-06 12:37 PM

he's a tool that guy... IMHO

I can. If aternoon = 1-2pm or 3
hehe.

Or can I interest anyone in a MINIX lecture by it's creator on Wed?

moki 03-23-06 01:16 PM

Hi Toronto. I used to one of you before I moved to the prairies (don't ask).

Anyone have a lead on a decent track frame 53-54 cm square? lugged steel, no wicked dents, etc etc.

pm me if you do. tanks

1-2pm is good for me too. it this for lunch/coffee? op, good luck with that afternoon dentist appointment.. sounds hazardous.

Cool. I'm actually working on building an oldschool track frame, but that's not an excuse to start another bike project....except that I don't have anywhere to keep all these bikes.

jet sanchEz 03-23-06 03:48 PM

Man, I hate cabs...I wonder if ours are worse than other cities? It seems like everyone I know has either been hit by a cab while walking or cycling or driving...is it possible that we have the worst cab drivers in the world?

I think it is really easy to get a driver's license and there are so many cabs out there, getting a fare becomes a competitive thing, so racing onto sidewalks or knocking down cyclists to get that passenger is almost commonplace.

cavit8 03-23-06 03:58 PM

Yeah, well, I'm moving to smaller digs so I need to dump the frame along with my Brodie Electro and clean out my parts bin...

moki, depending where on the prairies you are (I'm a flatlander myself), check out the Alberta Bike Forum classifieds. You'll sometimes see track bikes come up there. The Calgary Bicycle Track League has a classifieds, but it's pretty lame.

It's a risky, brutal job where you're getting economically exploited and are the target racist police tactics. While I can understand why they may be aggressive for fares, it doesn't excuse driving like maniacs. Touch wood, I've never had a real problem with them.

And it's been said...

operator 03-23-06 04:12 PM

Taxi driver as a job is pretty ****ty. But yeah, not really a reason to drive around like a maniac and injure people. I sympathize, but not with that.

TRaffic Jammer 03-23-06 05:10 PM

Driving around like a maniac is THE reason I would drive a cab.... :p
I would avoid the bikers however. They don't ride on the sidewalks much anyway.

Can you do stairs in a cab?

eyefloater 03-23-06 06:05 PM

I actually like Gok's plan there - let's grab some lunch around 1pm or whatever.

Traffic, I'm still coughing up some pretty funky ****. I've been alternating biking/TTC'ing to work each day because that's pretty much all I can handle.

TRaffic Jammer 03-23-06 06:06 PM

The cough goes on forever dude. The deep evil sounding rattle?

gokiburi 03-23-06 06:33 PM

still at work..ugh. someone pick a neighbourhood for lunch for monday? kensington's nice but it's not much of a ride for me. uh, actually, anything's cool. i can never decide what to eat.. what a crappy city we live in. maybe something healthy to accomodate eyefloater's failing health. the trinidadian place in kensington has some really good veggie and beef soup. get that and a double and you're set. no place to sit though. but lookee here: a high of 7C for monday.

operator 03-23-06 07:17 PM

I'll be on utoronto campus, so anywhere streetcarable but not too far is fine. Kensington sounds cool. That veggie soup sounds cool. Where is this place.

it's patty king on baldwin in the market. some baldwin landmarks you might remember: planet kensington, the army surplus store, cheese magic.. the bong store..tom's place (suits).. pho and saigon subs are always a walk away too. the patty king soup is pretty damn good though.

cavit8 03-23-06 09:36 PM

So are we talking Saturday? I've seen a few dates floating around . If Kensingon is getting a little stale, maybe we need to move 'hoods a bit. I'm over in Little Chinatown/Little India area.

eyefloater 03-23-06 10:45 PM

Pho Hung's got some decent combos for "teh cheap" ... but whatev's is cool by me. Operator's going to be having the biggest hassle to meet up since he's rocking the street car so I leave it to his good judgement.

Brian Eno - Another Green World (1975, I believe). How great an album is this thing? Everytime I listen to it I feel a bit amazed that dude was a good 30 years ahead of his time.

Shiznaz 03-24-06 12:11 AM

Whoah oh ooh oh oh ooh oh ooh oh I'll come running to tie your shooooooooooe!
