Not that many messengers use 2 ways anymore but when we did the correct on-air term for repeat would be 10-9.

Just got home from 2 1/2 hours in the Don. Conditions are superb and we only saw 3 other riders the entire time. Ridge twice...P.A, River Run and Lower Don both ways. Good times!

Damnit.. I need to play hooky some time soon for an epic Fall day in the Don.

Time is so compressed for me at this time of year ... I literally go from "cross day" to two days of "cross photos" to "is it cross day again yet?" ... and that's it.

Yes. Conditions have been great lately. The trail is in awesome shape and the temperature's perfect.

The Portuguese bakery (forget the name, not Nova Bakery) at Dovercourt and Bloor has pretty cheap espressos.

Or by people directing an artillery or mortar fire mission. It means "fire the same number of guns (or tubes) and rounds with the exact same coordinates as you did in the previous fire mission". I'm pretty sure it's still used that way. It's been almost 29 years now since I last heard it spoken to me for real.

Lather, Rinse, ... Repeat

A subtle reminder

And I might add the new shaker is working famously, at least if the sensation in my brainstem is any indication.

out of curiosity what do bike messengers use if its not a 2way radio? cell phone and just get text messages?

kergin 09-23-08 10:11 PM

PTT MiKE or BB would be my guesses.

~Stuart~ 09-23-08 10:17 PM

/\ if that was a response to me, im going to have to ask for it in stupid talk, so i can understand :D

cavit8 09-23-08 10:48 PM

PTT Mike = push to talk mike. Push to talk can be used on two way radios but has been adapted to cell phone networks as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_to_talk

BB:

call/run details via text. talking, if necessary, via PTT.

You could get one at taphong in Chinatown but I'd recommend SasMart in Kengsinton market just north of the park on Augusta.

1.50 espresso isn't likely to be had, one of the least expensive quality places is I Deal coffee's is $2.00 or so. What part of town are you in? We might be able to suggest something closer to you.

i always found that sasmart place to be overly pricey - certainly doesn't look it from the outside. the faema store at davenport and ossington usually has good deals on the aluminum ones (they had a box of the 3 cup ones there a while ago for something like 6 bucks each...); i got a 6 cup for $18 - and you can get an espresso with all the old italian men in their adjoining cafe...

+1 on that place. Honest Ed's has some decent Bialetti ones too for around 20$.
And that Sicilian cafe ar Montrose and College has some cheap espressos as well.

I have Cyclo-Zen. PM me. You rode past me on Dupont last night when I was coming out of Loblaws. Propane refill = fail.

Also, re coffee stuff: the Green Beanery at Bathurst/Bloor has got some terrible customer service. No business from me. I've heard they've sold refurb stuff as new from a friend "in the industry". Just a warning. Nobody's mentioned them yet, but since I was reminded when I saw Honest Ed's mentioned.

iherald 09-24-08 08:58 AM

Propane refill on your bike? That's pretty hardcore

ha ha thanks for asking because i was wondering too!

seems like i got a bit of a discussion going... but really, i'm sure some of you will be in the audience and i know what tough critics we all are...

so it sounds like using a cell would be kosher, and that makes the script details a bit easier.

anyone with a mess bag though? i know i could use my backpack, but i think my character would go for the faster option. OMG filming starts next week!
