Midweek also has some excellent group rides on the weekends with the same coaches that run Monday. Generally they practice racing tactics (echelons, protecting riders etc), that can't fit into the Monday night session. |

Congrats to Noah!
I count myself lucky to have 2 of my bikes painted by him. I left him a lot of latitude when it came to color and design, and I must say, I still like just sitting and looking at both of them. I bet he could restore my Nagasawa frame to pristine condition (it's pretty good already, so I should probably leave well enough alone), but I doubt my wife will allow me to do any bike building this year after last year's 3 new bikes and 2 rebuilds. |

Are those rides usually saturday, or sunday?
You don't need to be a Midweek member but do require insurance as it's a Midweek sponsored ride. The ride leader is canadian national track champ from back in the day ( 1960's ). |

Saturday at 7AM. If the weather was really nice they would also do Sunday.

Has anyone here ever requested a locking post from the city? I'm moving into a new place April 1st and the landlord was talking about getting a bike rack for the house(everyone that lives there uses a bike as their primary means of transport, even the landlords).
Also, can anyone recommend a storage system for bikes in my apartment? There's currently 3 soon to be 4 bikes in a pretty small place. |

Went riding in High Park last night ... three other people riding there. Last time there was only one. Come on spring!

I live on the 2nd floor of a small house. Above the stairs mi-way there is a large unusable space 1.5 floor tall. I put some pulleys and hooks and it holds two bikes weeee!!. It's pretty specific to my place though...

that's pretty sweet
|
hmm that would totally work in my house..... now if I can convince the others in the house that's is safe to walk under those..... Though, I will still need drip dry time before hanging it up. Cool.

a few years ago i requested that a couple posts be installed outside of my apartment at the time, and it was indeed a quick and painless process. i wonder if the city is using double rings for all the new posts? of course it's best to keep your bikes inside (with a pulley!!) but if you're in a building with stairs then it's nice to have a quick place to lock up outside too.

Locking outside.... *shudders*... *pats his bike* "No baby, she wasn't talking about you....*
|
i wouldn't dare!
also, yesterday was a good day to ride... http://www.flickr.com/photos/29950894@N02/3328590521/ ...i even saw me some beaver action: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29950894@N02/3329468582/ |
Yeah you can be sure I used a stud finder! For the heavy 30lbs touring bike there is another hook on the wall so the rear wheel is held at two spots. I admit it's not quick to move the bikes from there but those are the bikes I use the less and not in the winter.
The hardest part in the installation was to bring the f'ing 10' ladder inside (no way a 12' would fit btw learned the hard way). |
Hello City of Toronto, I'd like a couple bike parking rings installed on my front porch.

I'm lucky enough that work has indoor bike parking and I can always find a spot to stow the bike in my apartment. It happens so infrequently that if I lock my bike outside for over an hour I start to almost expect it to be stripped |
I'm sooooooo grateful for my underground parking here at work, I'd never leave my bike outside all day down here.
|
I work at the welfare office at Jarvis and Wellesley. My bike wouldn't last a week if I started locking it up on the street, Krypto Fahgetaboutit or not...

They could put em on my front lawn if they wanted to, but not sure if that would be too far from the house.
I have a wrought iron fence now ppl can lock to , but we might be cutting it out and selling it for recycling. It's UUUUUUGLY and makes the yard feel, well, boxed in and confined. |
