Yep, that path was clear but the other side was still frozen over.

you should check out sram rival, i recently put DA levers on my bike, had a serious issue with the right lever, returned them, got 09 sram rival levers/RD and I'm loving it big time ... the doubletap shifting rules and it's lighter than DA ... obviously doesn't have the same big name as shimano or campy for road stuff, but once contador wins the TDF on sram red this year, people will be all over it

im thinking of buying an old steel road frame, and setting it up with a new group set and wheels. should be good. i just have to sell my giant OCR touring bike... only been on one trip, dropped once but otherwise in working order, so minor scratching on a lever (needs a new headset, got ****ed on trip (combo of a quick antisieze on spot repair and the bike store tightning it too much) any ideas for a cheap half decent integrated headset?) its got a cool rack too ;)

Very nice, jet.
Ride to Milton went only as far as 403/Burnhamthorpe (well, 9th line right there) due to time constraints, but man was that ever the hardest ride I've done. Was only about 60km in total there and back, but keeping steady pace at ~22mph/35km/h along with Steve (tall guy from Winnipeg) really worked me into the ground, heh - I'm glad he was there to keep me going, despite it running me ragged :) Opened my eyes that I'm a long way off being fit/strong for road riding. I need to service my road bike and maybe replace the (damaged) Centurion frame with the Peugoet I have. Saw that Trek 1000 Alpha on CL, but the guy has 20 folks lined up and is opening up the bidding war on it today, so I'm ducking out of that... $200 would be nice, but something seems iffy about the price and bike (too good to be true?) |
|
I met 2wheelsgood in a grocery store* the other night (overall a pleasant experience, I must say) and then on my way out took a look at his townied-up Steamroller. That bike's quite the classy lassy! I really like the build you put together.

anyone fixed want to ride the donut?
once the pace picked up on hwy7 i got dropped so bad that when i got to keele i couldn't see the pack anymore... .... contemplating road bike..... |
Anyone know where to go for SPD compatible shoes in the city for around 100-140? According to their website MEC doesn't seem to stock any and I'm about ready to make the switch to clipless.
And if anyone had shoe (MTB shoe) suggestions for around that price that'd be super rad too :) |
probikekit has some good Shimano shoes for that price. Sidi's start at $150 there.

i got some Lake MX85 mountain shoes at MEC and they've been great. Works with any 2 hold cleat/pedal (so SPD is perfect) and are comfortable.. I've used them for rides up to ~100km with great results. They're listed at $119, but I've seen them on sale there before.
Good excuse for a bike ride down to MEC this evening then |
i think urbane carries lake and shimano as well, both seem to make decent value shoes
|
Sidi's are a little tighter fit. Last time I was at MEC though they had some. It might be something to check out. I have the bullet (they were called something else when I got them) and they're nice. You can replace a lot of stuff on them which is useful.

Thanks guys, as always this thread proves incredibly helpful. I'll head over when I get home and see what they've got in stock. The finances of clipless finaly worked out for me since I needed to buy another pair of shoes to cycle in anyway (if I'm not biking I like to wear Chuck's) so I figured rather than buy shoes to better fit my clips and straps, might as well just get clipless for around the same cost.

The bike show is this weekend, I'm quite certain you'll be able to find something you'll like there... on sale!
|
Is that a Barq's root beer? hmmm.
|
Have we done bike show ticket requests yet? I actually need to get in on that year.
