You ****ing no-good luddite candyasses wouldn't know a good frame if it popped out of your rectum one afternoon and asked you for the time. No, that didn't make any sense. **** you all.

PS. If I had $1200 it'd go toward a custom lugged steel Marinoni or Kalavinka.

Let's have a Toronto Congestion charge, seriously, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_congestion_charge.

Especially in the GTA. That'd never fly with the car loving populace here though.

Cavernmech: Are you supposd to grease the pawls on the campy freehubs? I'm hearing conflicting anecdotal advice from differing people.

TRaffic Jammer 04-25-06 10:17 AM

If I'm paying 1200 for a frameset, I'm supporting the locals.... Cramerotti, Cervelo, etc. Marinoni's are burned into my brain from riding in MTL in the 80's you couldn't throw a rock without hitting one of those. I'll never buy one. Keith...check you mail....tell if it was too big an attachment.

Is there a web link for the road rules here in Toronto, was buzzed by van on the way in. SO I got up to his window at the light, and we head the "discussion" as to weither I was allowed to take the lane or not. Since the riding officer told me I was allowed I now need to print the actual road rules so that I may hand it to drivers' that claim "I know the law" as justification for getting 6 inches from my elbow as I ride in the middle of the curb lane.

Near as I can tell, that was: Aggressive/careless driving, reckless endangerment, straddling (driving both lanes), illegal lane changes (no signals).
For a grand total of hand me your keys you putz. I am grateful that is was a non-screaming discussion, quite civil in fact but he was completely wrong while claiming "he KNEW the law". I'm kinda liking this taking of the lane thing. God, how fun would it be to be a police officer riding to "the house" and taking the lane during rush hour, and getting to deal with these knuckleheads. "Why yes, sir in fact I AM allowed to take this lane and if you would be so kind to pull over I'll call you a ride." *flashes badge*

Oil, not grease on prawls, campy or otherwise.

operator 04-25-06 10:23 AM

Because of the club, everytime I see Marinoni I think old lady in spandex... *shudder*

eyefloater 04-25-06 10:25 AM

I almost bought a P2T frameset ... then I realized how ridiculous that would be (ie. I'm not worthy). It's understandable about your Marinoni thing but I'm still at the stage where I get a smile on my face everytime one comes into the shop. Does anyone know if Winterbourne has a site? I wouldn't mind checking out some more of their work.

Never "grease" Campy anything, they are lubed forever with the tears of angels. :p

I use "Slick Honey"...it is a really thin smooth grease. You don't want to use anything too thick or it makes the pawls stick.

No....if you don't have something ultra thin....think consistency of ketchup....then go with oil. I like the thin grease method cause I think it lasts longer and mutes the crazy loud freehub noise that is Campy. I use Campy on my Cross racing bike and like to be a little stealthy.

operator 04-25-06 10:50 AM

Ok where can I pick up a jar of this honey goodness?

Too thick. The prawls may not engage fully, and you can mess up yourself, and the part.

TRaffic Jammer 04-25-06 10:55 AM

HEY....I've seen that little bastard around too. Cept he looked like:

Good thing I don't have the cassette yet, that would've been not good.

Bicycle Specialites only open Fri/Sat? :|

I don't know where you guys are getting the pricing for the Giant track frame, but I got it out of their dealer catalog. Shouldn't be more than $800 for frame and carbon fork. Not too bad if you ask me.

But if you want to spend $1200 for Canadian made may I suggest: http://www.truenorthcycles.com/frames/track.asp

BTW compact doesn't seem to bother the guys that are ripping it at Forest City......but they aren't messers so what would they know about track bikes..........

Giant that ended last week on eBay

Also, why is that TrueNorth frame/fork so expensive? To me, 1200$CDN is a helluva lotta money for just a frame and fork.
