I would like to know this also. Although I may be too busy bearing the cross of stats II to go.

Hah. I've read the link, I was actually hoping for more details, specifically if there's any cost.

sorry, I'm a little burned out tonight. Should be free, but tell them to put it on operator's bill if not. Everyone knows "the operator". you know, you know.

this happened to me last night going down markham st. on my bike. Me and my buddy Mike were doing a beer run down to college, so I tow him on his skateboard at about 30km/h from harbord to college. About 3/4s of the way down to college a car catches up with us and starts doing jerky accelerations just to keep within tailgating range, swerving all over the freaking road trying to get past us. If Mike had fallen over the car would have been on him instantly. After he passed us at the intersection he he flips me off, yells something and then screeches his tires across college street. I guess he was in a hurry or something?

Also about jet fuel tonight; its my girlfriends birthday so I probably won't be able to make it out. we will see though

sweep: you've got my mobile number, right? Just give me a call when you get downtown. I was thinking about swinging by cavern as well as Cycle Therapy.

i don't think so, messengers have always ridden fixed. i usually see nicer bikes on the road come spring when they can pull out their fenderless lightweights.

so i finally received my new frame (original 80's bridgestone, 67cm c-t-c) from the US so operation pinkbike is in full effect. i have most of it built but i still need to get to the bike shop to get the right length bb installed. i'll post up some pics of the pink giant when i get a minute.

wow, you're a big 'un.
about UPS: i used them to ship a bike from san diego. the hub axle poked a hole through the box.. not sure if that was due to shoddy packaging or crappy handling in transit (probably the latter). it took awhile to get to toronto but in all fairness, it was more of a custums thing. it took something like 3-4 days to get from san diego to windsor and that's where it sat for something like a week. it wasn't cheap but i think my grand total was about a 100 canuck bucks and that includes duty and taxes and other superfluous things which wasn't that much anyways. i don't have any reasons not to go with them again. aiiiight.

also on the topic on stinking UPS.

I got a frame shipped from the US sometime in the winter. It was a brand new frame w/ carbon fork.
I paid $300 for it but the seller shipped it off and listed it as used bike parts @ $200.

However, UPS opened it up and saw that it lt was a new frame and decided to estimate its REAL worth at about $1200.
So, when it got to my door, I was charged $200 somthing in customs and duties.

I got them to send it back and it was then re-shipped back to me through USPS without any custom charges. feuf.

my point is, UPS sucks bum. If possible, always try to request USPS if you are having something shipped from US.

I love the skidstrong setup on their site with the lime green rims and those On-One Mary bars. Looks like it would be a really fun city ride. https://www.gaansari.com/skidstrong/what.htm

i requested that he send it usps and he kept insisting that it was "too big" to ship in the post so he sent it ups for an addition $70US at his cost and it showed up to my door in two days. i'm not complaining, except for the fact that i ended up pay $45 in duties. very random if you ask me.

Doesn't customs open your package? Why would UPS open something?

UPS is awful for shipping bikes. We've made numerous complaints about their lack of care w/ bike shipments. Axles poking through, holes punched/torn in boxes is actually common with them. Avoid them at all costs if possible.

So umm ... I'm a total dork. I finished up the bike this morning and took it for a quick spin around the neighbourhood before I started work. It's lovely. At some point today I need to track down a dual pivot front brake that I can slap on, but then I'll be out and about tonight after 7pm if anything's going on. The temporary saddle is an old San Marco Rolls (yellow) that will likely get replaced by a ridiculously expensive Brooks Swift (honey/brown/black? dunno).
