Also: I ****ing love that they've got no-attitude BYO at restaurants in Montreal. We went to this Italian place (just off St. Denis I think) and bought a nice bottle around the corner beforehand. Such a great meal.

zut alors indeed! not sure if a montrealer would be caught dead eating a madagascar or mexican poutine though! a fast food joint in japan called first kitchen had poutine on their menu. it was...interesting. tj, there are plenty of faces to be poutine-stuffed here.

it's not just one venue and not just at night. a lot of events and different artists showing up. i'm going for the music but also to meet some friends from japan who aren't ;) mutek.ca

TRaffic Jammer 06-02-06 02:11 PM

well .... I might have to have a massive bag O ' Cheese sent then.....
As Poutine is such a staple I'm sure alot of people have mixed it up fusion style. Not sure if I'd wanna base a business on it.
Have a great time, say hello to all the Montreal girlies.

Nice Japanese place on Prince Arthur...but it would be the last place in the world your Japanese friends would wanna be.

Are you riding fixed? I may be up for a short jaunt. I have dinner plans.

Bah. On second thought, I should be a good little worker bee and stay in. Hope you find a riding buddy.

TRaffic Jammer 06-02-06 02:23 PM

actually, i was totally looking at that! no explanation of his name though.. hmm, richie hawtin is playing ricardo villalobos..looks like a battle. i'm going with a fairly large group of techno heads so i'll be at their mercy. of course i'm looking for any excuse to take off and eat. mmm, smoked meat, bagels, hotdogs and poutine. i think i'll need to sneak into the 75km ride for heart to burn off the calories.

Anyone want to go for a ride right now or in the next couple hours? I'm going to be chilling DT for a bit.

So are you saying your now riding a fixie?

Shiznaz 06-02-06 02:38 PM

How much would you guys say an old set of sugino mighty competition double cranks are worth?

32flavours 06-02-06 02:44 PM

Are you selling them? Because if you are, they're worth 1 dollar and you should sell them to me.

TRaffic Jammer 06-02-06 02:46 PM

^^^^^^^^^

Shiznaz 06-02-06 02:46 PM

Shiznaz 06-02-06 02:57 PM

Yeah, I've heard the name many times but I've never heard his stuff. He was the drummer for Godspeed You! Black Emperor though, which has always piqued my interest... apparently not enough to actually do much digging though. :P

1-speed bicycle played an amazing show in Toronto a few years back right after a mogwai show had ended. Mogwai came and got really drunk and started harrassing everyone it was really really funny.

The best offshoot from godspeed remains A Silver Mt. Zion though, all of their albums are masterpieces but their first is possibly the most depressing piece of music eva. I love it.

Just switched over to using mountain bike grips and tape, must say its a much nicer experience when riding up close to the stem, a bit of a pain in the arse to get them on though.

STEEKER 06-02-06 08:46 PM

Cavernmech I came across a picture in the forums of a idea I could do with my bike I would like to send you the pic to see if you have the parts, thanks

operator 06-02-06 09:15 PM

Yo yo yo homies. Goki will you sale me your nishiki?

operator 06-02-06 09:18 PM

So having rode teh fixed I now realize that

1) My position is way too high on my road bike i.e i'm not horizontal enough, need negative drop stem
2) **** gears
3) Aer0bars FTW
4) My frame maybe 1-2cm too big?
5) Brakes FTL

All right good to hear, note a couple of things.
1. Have fun
2. Try not to kill yourself (very important, easy to do at first)
3. Hope you get hooked riding fixed
4. Hope your road bike gets better but not soon!
Cheers
