I'm doing (planning on doing - check) the 75 k loop, so I'll be there at 6:45 for the start.

Do you think I should clean my bike first? It's kinda dirty and I wouldn't want to be looked down upon...

I think you should i had a hard time seeing what make it was actually even the colour was hard to see.LOL
I will not make it out to the ride unfortunately but all who do have fun.
Cheers

6:45 wtf. You'll just be riding with skin tight lycra dudes and they look down on fixed gearers anyways. It'll be all the more satisfying to crush them with a dirty, fendered/panniered fixed than anything, plain jerseys no bike shorts.

I probably won't be able to make the 6:45 start but i'll catch you guys somewhere when I do start at 7:30-8.

And uh, you're on for a race Sr20. Don't wuss out.

Edit: Let's meet up at the entrance gates before we head out at 6:45. I think i'm going to attempt riding the 30k down.

urbane has them, they also have a cheaper copy that sells for $30. the bends look identical, they are aluminum, similar finish, just no nitto tag. i bought a pair and i've had the nittos and can't tell the difference.

don't worry, the roadies and tri guys will look down on you anyways.

operator 06-03-06 02:18 PM

That's funny, the roadies look down on the tri guys anyways haha.

then who looks down on the roadies? the only people i can think of are maybe the messengers? this sounds like a rock-paper-scissors powers struggle.

operator 06-03-06 02:44 PM

Yep. You forgot the downhill/bmxers

eyefloater 06-03-06 03:00 PM

So, how does one actually 'sneek' into the Ride For Heart bike run? Just show up at start line?

;)

cavit8 06-03-06 03:25 PM

They actually have a scammers starting gate for those who'd rather take advantage of all the volunteers and other folks who are donating their time and money and working for this charity rather than pay the entry fee.

Ill Mitch 06-03-06 03:27 PM

maybe just ride in the center of the big main group going through the start gates and they won't notice you.

gboy 06-03-06 05:43 PM

Hmm, maybe I should show up tomorrow too...

STEEKER 06-03-06 05:56 PM

I had to swap out my bars and stem for my back so I got them from Urbane no tape on them yet http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne...9614634&size=l http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne...9614636&size=l

Shiznaz 06-03-06 08:36 PM

I'm doing the 50k (or maybe the 25k if I'm feeling lazy) and I'm supposed to start at 8:15 am so I'll be there around that time. Most of yooz'll probably be halfway done by the time I get going.

How are the shoes?

operator 06-03-06 09:52 PM

So since none of you can decide on a meetpoint, i'll see you on the road.

They're good. Still need a bit of breaking in cuz my feet are a little wider than the shoe itself, but I've dialed in the cleat position and they're fairly comfy. And after Thursday's drenching, they're now dry again for tomorrow.

STEEKER 06-04-06 08:53 AM

I had a change of heart about the mustach bars , my Dad and I were looking at the 1959 Raliegh and those bars would be killer looking and give it a super old school look so I am going to put them on the Raliegh and I am going to put the Pinarello bars on the new 6 inch stem instead

Ill Mitch 06-04-06 09:09 AM

Ride for heart was sweeeeet,

I was with the lead group the whole time riding with the Cycle Solutions team and we had a police escort to get all the slow people out of the way

Average speed of 38 km/h, and it only took 2 hours to do the 75 km ride :D

cavit8 06-04-06 09:22 AM

Awesome ride today (RFH). Only saw one other fixie; buddy with one of the UTW art bags (angel), fuji brakeless, messengers international jersey.

cavit8 06-04-06 09:23 AM

I saw your peleton blow buy a couple of times, fun times. It's a bit more of a slog as you come back through the 25- 50 k group.

jeremywhitehorn 06-04-06 09:29 AM

if there are some of you out there who didn't do the ride for heart and are reading this on sunday morning and want to go for a short spin this afternoon, let me know. i'll probably do a little spin around the city or something.
