sometimes people are so dumb it totally surprises me.

this guy comes in to install a keyboard tray on someone's desk. they start talking about the traffic this morning and he says "yeah, the traffic was brutal, I don't know why". Then there's an awkward pause.. and the woman goes "well.. the ttc is on strike..?" And he says "yeah, but I thought that would make the traffic better!"

wtf?!?!?!

he thinks the ttc makes traffic WORSE?!

It was good to meet you and your gf too. The blue Pinnarello she rides is really nice. You're right, the islands are nice and relaxing. On the ride back to the city, my wife said, "Watch, I bet this'll be in that forum you're always on."

stupid cagers aside, i had to walk to work (left the bike at work on friday fer drinkin') and noticed that most of the bike racks in front of the big office towers were totally rammed. it almost reminded me of japan/europe.... probably a combination of it being bike week and the strike. it's too bad this is not a year-round occurance.

who knew the TTC would be on strike? my commute across bloor this morning was like riding in a parking at disneyland. it's funny how out of the loop i become when i don't rely on transit or autos to get around; i had to ask someone why there were so many people on the street this morning. of course they looked at me funny and told me what's going on.

anyone else get their first cyclist's tan on the season this weekend. i look in the mirror and it's like i'm wearing a white hairy shirt...

I got my first arm-tan 2 weeks ago on a FFL ride, but this weekend my knees got burned. I remembered to put sunscreen on my arms/nose/etc, but not my legs for some reason. My psoriasis meds make me more sensitive to UV light as well so I have this crazy bright pink burn in a circle around a spot on my calf.

For sure. My lockup area has just as many bikes as always. It doesn't seem like the strike affected us much at all. There's a bunch of people that just didn't come in today though, and I think quite a few people drive. I really can't comprehend how anyone can drive to work at UofT though... if for no other reason simply for the lack of parking here.

Bike? They probably wished they were in a car. Bike never crosses their mind. TTC strike? Hi-****ING-LARIOUS.

Please strike more. In fact please strike tomorrow so i don't have to class.

PS I'm getting this squeaking noise from my bike. Cranks tight, pedals swapped, happens sitting or standing, checked frame for cracks, nothing. BB? Anything I missed?

I made the mistake of wearing a tank top on the donut ride saturday morning. Lobster-fest! Have to take cool showers for a few days.

Anyone know of a sunscreen that doesn't run into your eyes and burn like mace when you excercise? Do the "sport" versions work any better, or are they all the same?

The phantom squeek. How about your chainring bolts-are they tight? Sometimes my BB cups squeek-pull apart, lube and reassembly shuts it up. Sometimes stem/bar joint too. Have fun finding it.

Hey uh. Who's doing the ride for heart this Sunday? I'm going to be riding as a TBN volunteer.

Volunteer Instructions: TBN Ambassadors of the Road are to meet Joe Hickey from 6:45 to 7:30 a.m. at the TBN Tent, Health & Fitness area, west end of the CNE grounds. Bring your TBN membership card to show Joe. T-shirts, and walkie-talkies will be distributed there. Cycling event takes place rain or shine. If you are a non-member of TBN and wish to volunteer, phone Joe Hickey in advance of the event at 416-414-8310. Questions? Phone Joe Hickey at 416-414-8310.

I know this is a long-shot, but how about the spokes? Or it could be the saddle rails...

My friend's bike made a weird knocking noise. Turns out it was his rear wheel spokes. Go figure

you know, this is usually a beginning of summer ritual for me but for some reason i forgot all about it this time around. seeing as i've done it just about every year since 1994, i think i'll probably give it a rest. maybe i'm just not in the mood to pay $30 to ride my bike on the highway...
