FTG....
The best part of last night was when IGOR (chop shop guy on queen) was checking out Mitch's bike. It was like a choir boy not being able to run away when the precher was touching his privates. Mitch's face :o was somewhat distraught as if IGOR was molesting him indirectly through his bike. FTL... |

Is that in reference to you, Keith? :) |
Only noobs have browsers set to underline links. Ergo you = n00b, link is automagically parsed without having to use javascript to insert it.
GFTG! ;D |
is it just me or have URLs been getting longer and longer as webpages have become more and more annoying?

I remember retrieving a stolen bike from his place the day after it was burned. I had a loft at Ossington and Queen, and went to his place the day after as I KNEW I'd find it there, him being so well known for shady gear. It had the bars cut, the tyres changed and my Time pedals had become flats. He's all oh how are you sure it's yours.... all the stickers my daughter had put on it... I knew. Then he wanted me to buy it from him. So the crackhead you claim sold it to you did all these changes to the ride in the three hours after he stole it from me and sold it to you huh? So I showed him my u-lock, gave my best messer growl (hoping my voicee wouldn't crack), and said I could either just leave with my bike, I could beat him about the head and shoulders and leave with my bike, or call the cops and leave with my bike. I left with my bike. As I was leaving I told him he a week to find my pedals, they were waiting for me 6 days later. He even tried to tell me he worked both sides of the stolen bike scene, the cops letting him slide on the cheap stuff if he turned over on the high-end thieves. What a character, I'm amazed he's still alive. Mitch I'd have shuttered too.

He also grabbed my wrist one time in order to study my watch. He approved by the way... He's the total opposite of the one other slovenian guy I know (who I met at a european studies summer course in france). Still, Igor's got that surly ex-yugoslavian charm to him, and he doesn't actually smell as bad as you would imagine.

I will agree with Shiznaz for the block.

Well we saw plenty of shady guys outside of igors, one even brining in a stolen bike last night. And others taking the parts off of already-there bikes.
Shady indeed. |
However, if society collapses around our ears. I'll lay down even money he'll be the only one for miles with running water and electricity. He does have that 'behind-the-curtain' get it done gene, that us lazy north american SOB's simply don;t have.

Yeah, the only bike-guy more surly than Igor is John up at High Park Cycle. If his bikes weren't so hot (the good kind of hot) he would have been out of business years ago just on priciple; he is rude to every person who walks in his shop.
Igor had a nice guy named Rick working for him years ago and he was good to talk to about bikes, I wonder what happened to that guy? |
Igor made him an offer he couldn't refuse? :P
|
 Remember guys who are racing. If in the final sprint someone puts the lean on ya...lean back. You have two balance points the bike vs the ground and you vs the bike. Have fun and go kick butt. I hope the timing works out so I can grab a couple shots before you guys start off.

Because she bought it from Igor and I am sure he held on to a few keys for "safekeeping" He used to be a cop in Eastern Europe many years ago. I wonder why he isn't a cop anymore? cough *bribes* cough. He owns that building by the way...purchased with legit funds shurely. I have had at least 10 customers in the last year who have come in looking for their stolen bike, gone to Igor's and got it back..albeit with a little prodding and or outright threats. I tell people if you purchase stuff from him don't get all bent out of shape when yer bike gets ripped off...you help perpetuate the stolen bike problem by buying from him.
Yeah, Igor is pretty shady. The cops are pretty much all over him now, but I remember when he was way worse. The truth is he is mentally ill, but it isn't enough of an excuse for his actions. Still, he is an interesting character. The funny thing about him is he actually hates to sell anything. He loves to be surrounded by piles of stuff....strange dude. |
lolercopters.
man, I walked past cavern today and I saw the most rediculous bike go into the shop. It was a colnago track with super mad angled uncut riser bars. I almost walked into the person infront of me. and I put on some rubino's that I found at the back of Urbane and they are cut up & cracked EVERYWHERE. can't wait to see how long they last until it explodes into bits. |

There were some really nice Vittorios on sale at Urbane for $24 but they are 20s. I personally love 20s but they are not everyone's cup of tea. I will get a set of the blue ones sometime next week (if they last that long).
