Yup, I did check out the glass floor of the CN Tower a few years ago. It is pretty cool, but I think today's ride on the Gardiner & DVP has all other tourist attractions beat.

operator 06-04-06 01:09 PM

Ok I saw none of you there. And I only met up with Shiznaz cause I called him. Too many ****ing people who don't know how to ride a straight line pisses me off.

This one guy told me to **** myself after swerving all over the road and nearly causing a crash. ****ing noobs.

that's the only other ss/fixie i saw today!!! i notice some roadies try to drop you when they find out that you're behind them....but they seem to die out quick, and lose all momentum :D

okay ladies and germs. i finally got some photos of the pink bike as i was really looking for an excuse to use my new camera. you'll notice that it's not exactly urban/messenger hip but who cares? i want to use it for longer rides so i gave it the "rivendell treatment" for comfort:

I ride a blue IRO w/ blue rims and risers. What bike were you riding? If roadies wanted to drop me, it shouldn't have been too hard since I was in "picture snapping tourist" mode and not "ride real fast mode until I can't breathe anymore" mode. Except for when I was fixie coasting and then I was in "hold on for dear life" mode.

i ride a ss silver fuji with bullhorns and an aerospoke rear wheel... i guess you're running a freewheel? that's a very pretty bike you have!

you are a GIANT! totally rediculous:rolleyes:
I like the look though :) + the saddlebag rocks.

Sirrobinofcoxly 06-04-06 04:30 PM

Damn the ride for Heart was fast. I know it wasn't a race, but I must have blown by 500 people like they were standing still. Why go slow when you can go fast?

And let me get some "lame roadie courtesy" input...

So This guy passes me for a second, so I decide to draft him for a couple of minutes. Ones I get sick of going that speed, I pass him at a good pace (but still in the saddle. Nothing show-off-ie). The guy then catches up to me and reams me out.

"Hey, You don't hold someone’s wheel, and then blow by them. You take your turn pulling!"
"Dude, I'm not racing"
"Then settle down"

I don’t get what the big deal was. Sure, I was riding behind him, but then got sick of going slow. I’m not going to ride at that pace, just so I can pull him. From this point on I ride side by side with him. If he's going to give me attitude for that, I don't want to pull or be pulled. Come on, we're at the ride for heart. Can't we all just get along?

Average speed of 38 km/h, and it only took 2 hours to do the 75 km ride :D

Pretty sweet, the Cycle Solutions team pwned the ride, but did that stupid ass pace line that made no sense again, just like last year...

Riding from the back of the group up to the front instead of the lead rider breaking the wind for the pack and then dropping to the back, I dunno seemed pretty n00b

Ah sorry, I didn't see your bike. Saw plenty of Fujis, but none of them were fixies. Actually, I run a fixed wheel so when I "coast", I take my feet of the pedals and rest them on the chainstays. Gravity does the rest. When the bike slows down enough, I just re-engage the pedals. It's kind of fun although the pedals turn into spinning shin-grinders.

sr20det 06-04-06 04:58 PM

shiat. I shoulda though of that.
I was spinning down hills like a clown holding onto the bars for my dear life. (and I was still slower than a family coasting down on their CCMs) :(

operator 06-04-06 05:29 PM

Well, uninvited drafting is kind of *ahem* and then swinging around for a pass without taking a pull is also *ahem*. He probably had a problem with the pass then anything else.

You had 2 options after he talked to you.
1) Drop his ass doing 4000w up DVP or
2) Ride next to him slowly half wheeling his ass up to 50kph

:)

For the record I drafted the sag truck and a couple roadies some of the way up and they never complained. I think they were too out of breath to complain.

I turned around to this one guy and said nasty headwind eh, going up a small hill and he was panting so then I said nothing :D

JYosarrian: were you the azn dude I said nice bike to on Queen st. a couple days ago? At that time I passed by on a red Bianchi with aer0bars.

Sirrobinofcoxly 06-04-06 05:43 PM

I don't believe that the drafting was uninvited. He passed me, and then took the line infront of me AND the guy that I was pulling, so I'll take what I can, until the guy is going too slow for me.

If he was upset that he got dropped he should buy a better bike to make himself feel better.:D
I was there to have fun.

Well, I am asian, but this city's full of them. If you saw a large asian on a blue IRO on Queen St., then it probably was me. Were you the guy that said, "Nice bike!" to me?

I do remember one other asian FG/SS rider walking his bike the wrong way up the DVP back towards the halfway point. Was that anyone here?

operator 06-04-06 05:49 PM

Yeah that was me - lol. I think you were the only IRO I ever saw with matching blue everything and I thought dude, that is so Bikeforums New York/States right there. This was on Queen st. just down the road a bit from Cavern cycles.

Wrong way up past the turnaround point? Could've been me but I never walked my bike. I had the orange/yellow volunteer shirts on with a mess bag and a white nishiki fixed.

P.S Sirrobin - I wouldn't worry too much about it. Go have a kegger

That sounds like a good idea. Too bad kegs don't have multiple hoses like a hookah, we could share.

*What?*
Oh sorry, I thought I heard someone say CV for a moment there. Just wishful thinking I guess.:p

LOL Blue IROs are pretty rare even in NYC. Most IROs I see are black Mark V's or Angus'. Even a homeless guy in Brooklyn told me mine was the only blue IRO he'd ever seen and that all the other IROs he'd seen were black.
