Totally off topic. I am looking to free up some space in the basement and have a bunch of old beater frames, wheels, parts etc. Most of this stuff is of the true "beater" variety but if you know anyone trying to get a basic ride together I am sure there are some usable/servicable parts to help em out. Most of the stuff is free for the taking. P.M. me if you need anything.

Free rhymes with ME ME ME....errr can I bring my rusty parts and frames to put in your basement for others to take?

uh huh, yer real slow K, okay so not as fast as you used to be, but that's faster than some people ever go! Hell I'm half what I used to be at best and I still laughed my way through some rides recently, after a 9 month+ break from riding.

I know what you mean though, if there is anything sadder than slow it's slow that was once fast

These gear inches.. they don't make any sense to me.

42x16 is like 2.65:1 ratio. Nice and easy.

A 17tooth cog is going to be hard to find unless you buy nice nice things. eg... EA import, Phils, Surly.

Durace don't make a 17
Miche makes their splined cog in big sizes. not expensive either.

Slow.... like the speed of light is relative to one's position in space. Being miles in front of Keith would make him slow. As most of us are miles behind Keith, his statement is one of self-deprecation. Nice try racer guy.

I could make all sorts of excuses for not coming out and riding but you would only mock me Sir McGregor, and fairly at that. I should make a point of coming out. The wife is going to be out of town this week-end so the Alley Cat is off limits...I'll be with the kiddies.*edit* What time does the race start? Being on a MTB..... ex laps( a la roadies ) sound like a drag, unless I really feel the need to scrape the back of the bunch, though I might be incline to come out and try someone's fixie if using flats/straps. I gotta get on and give it a go, but not in traffic. I like the way I've developed my traffic carving mojo and don't want to mess with it by adding an extra dimension of danger to it.

Don't let me off the hook.

With these old Skater knees....fixie on the street is not for me, ss for sure. Track....bring it, there is no deceleration trauma on the knees short of crashing. That's why I wanna build with a fixed/ss flip flop

i really, really like the idea of a swap meet. we all have overflowing parts bins i'm sure. actually the wife does something similar with friends and vintage clothes. everyone brings stuff they don't want / doesn't fit, you take what you want from the pile (or up to the amount you put in) and the rest goes to charity. we could skip the charity part but i want to feel good about myself.

I'm running 42-14, so that's 78.8 gear inches, can almost get up to 45km/h before I start spinning out.

I'm in for a long-sleeved one. Hopefully I have some takers if I have to get rid of it due to tiny person - big jersey issues.
