I just pulled out my Cargo mountain bike out ,wiped it down and oiled the chain took it for a boot around the street , W:eek: W what a change from the Fixed Gear soo much fun flying off curbs and really freaky with the big tires. I really look forward to riding the dirt trails with Cavernmech and Trafficjammer once the back is fixed .. any takers on the lake front trail east**********?

TRaffic Jammer 07-06-06 12:15 PM

Lake front trail? Do we have a flatish dirt trail that we can whip along? I like honking along the rolling stuff, not a huge climb and descend rider.

operator 07-06-06 12:26 PM

There isn't a whole lot of reason to use track drops in the city. Or at least, I haven't found them.

I vote we just cut out the inane bull****. *gasp*
Is that a not so subtle hint ;D

Dude. Use your words. :)

Also: I know this has been brought up several times before, but that's part of the reason why I'm posting again. I could never figure out what the best choice was. Can someone tell me the "best" place to get a frame + fork powdercoated? I don't want to have to deal with stripping it myself. This is for my old mountain bike, which I'm considering turning into a SS (potentially flip-flop) bike for winter/utility use since it has full rack/fender eyelets, etc.

not Biseagal; they've had my bike in their shop since january and once it was finally painted it was somehow scratched so we're back to square one.

if i remember correctly, spectrum powdercoaters was the place of choice. i could be wrong...

I wasn't too impressed with some of the stuff i've seen coming back from spectrum powdercoats. They seemed kind of dulll.

True dat ..... I ride assuming I am COMPLETELY invisible, it works.

Powdercoaters by the airport.... I called and you would need to strip the frame

If you wear tight pants and wink at the floor manager....her name is Maria....expect to pay about $75 for dip, blast, and one colour coat. It's not a pimpin' paint job but it is really tough and durable and turn around is usually one week. I have been happy with the approximately 40 frames I have had them do for me.

Keith ... the things you do for a deal. You're my hero.:)

somnambulant 07-06-06 01:25 PM

Great. Thanks for the info, guys! I'm more interested in durability than pure sexiness since this is going to be more of a utilitarian bike (and occasional fun double-track / path bomber).

Hey guys, screw getting custom Toronto bike jerseys, lets just agree to all buy a complete pro team kit and we can ride in a paceline around town and then have a podium celebration wherever we go.

TRaffic Jammer 07-06-06 03:06 PM

I'm not carrying the podium, those things are heavy.

Naww, the people who come in last can be the podiums, the youngest of us are gonna win :D

BTW, are there any shops that sell these chain tensioners, or anything similar that serves the same purpose?

Lawel.

I dig the Gerolsteiner, Lampre and Credit Agricole team kits this year... Good thing Milram hasn't been up at the front too much or I'd confuse them with Gerolsteiner. I think the team kits are usually over 200USD though so its pretty steep to dress up like superman. I found a Gerolsteiner kit on sale for 190USD but that included hat gloves socks and water bottle as well. I actually asked my mum to pick me up a white TDF jersey when the tour gets to paris... I was thinking either that or the green jersey but I'm not much of a sprinter so...

Still I would like a wool jersey. Someone get on the ordering and I'll fork over the bucks

edit: I just found a bunch of pro team kits (jersey, shorts, hat, socks, gloves) for around 140 bucks canadian... not bad at all... might actually consider it as I need another set of bike clothes and like to look ridiculous.

STEEKER 07-06-06 06:55 PM

I did the lake trail out to Whitby and am glad I took the mountain bike, the trail for Fixed Gear would not be good in some parts (but old school ballsy) lot's of woods/ cliff trails/gravel trails/ pretty awesome ride and I did the Rouge Valley highway 2 run comming back and made it out of the valley with out stopping. me thinks I'll want a cross bike like Kieths to add to the clan. took four hours to do the trip

STEEKER 07-06-06 07:05 PM

that is a steep climb here is a link http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=280825

Yes i had those bars thought i would love them but no (but they do look great), the bends up top to much for me & they are shallow drops & short didnt work for me. The b123's very similar just a bit bigger.

I got them on ebay sold them on ebay shortly after! They come up a lot on there.
Cheers

oh they were 42cm

That's good to know about the top bend. I'll consider that as I look for alternatives.

Cheers

I, in a small way, hope you are kidding. I really like the idea of a custom, swanky wool jersey with something unique on it. That being said if you guys all want to get one team's kit, I will (as long as I have access) do a one time only order for team kit and give it to ya'll for cost plus shipping. Another option, if someone know's a good silk screener, is to order up some good quality cycling gear...Descente comes to mind...and have it all silk screened with some form of logo or such. I have had jersey's done with silk screen in the past. While not as nice as sublimation it still hold's up pretty well and as long as the silk screener is good you don't get the sweaty action where the logo goes. Just a thought. Talk amongst yerselves.
