I was going to post here a thank-you to those who donated money for the bike rally, but instead I just saw more Tour spoilers ... so **** you all.

- Mike

PS. Thanks though.

Ill Mitch 07-20-06 09:17 PM

That was a bad looking fall towards the end of the stage, but then the guy just got right back on his bike and kept on going.

Mike.....dude....I love ya but it boggles my mind how you can be wrench and be several days behind the coverage. It would drive me bonkers not knowing what was going on. I don't even need to watch it. I'm buyin' the DVD just to have yesterdays stage, and maybe a Phonak jersey (word to Shizy)

I thought he was a floor sales man I have never seen him wrench :p

TRaffic Jammer 07-21-06 07:51 AM

Come to think of it I changed my own flat, not that I minded. Finding a wrench you can trust is a tall order. Ah to each his own, I couldn't watch it when all the riders were already on vacation.

Wow just heard on eurosprorts.com... Jan Ulrich has been fired by Team Mobile.

What the ****'s a wrench?

Edit: 15/16 blew my mind ... I just hope I get to see stage 17 before the rally (Somna, you're on fill-in detail if I don't get to see the end of the Tour by the time our trip starts).

I wrenched my back once somethin' fierce. Ah wrenching..... the exotic scents of wd-40, varsol and speed grease, as well as the tell tale hands are two shades darker than the rest of ya. I wish I hadn't sold off my tools when I stopped messin'.

me-cha-nic?

The **** man, I just tighten every nut I can find on a bike w/ an adjustable wrench until the edges round off. I figure it's solid at that point and **** ain't goin' nowhere. Seems to work fairly well.

Don't forget to add a generous amount of red loctite to your loose ball headsets!

TRaffic Jammer 07-21-06 08:38 AM

^^^^^^
Loctite in the headset ....that's evil dude

STEEKER 07-21-06 08:45 AM

thats like pin holes in your party hats

32flavours 07-21-06 11:35 AM

Hello everyone. Jet Sanchez does indeed exist, and is a very nice man to boot. The Gardin is now complete, I will take pictures sometime later and hopefully post them. Whee! Thanks again to Keith (cavernmech), John (Jet Sanchez), Chris (Kaibot) and my non-BF hookups at Bikes on Wheels and Curbside for helping me get this ***** on the road.

gokiburi 07-21-06 11:37 AM

anyone have dealings with mike the bike in kensington? sounds a bit sketch...

32flavours 07-21-06 11:50 AM

He seems like a good guy. I've screwed him out of business (unintentionally) a couple of times though, by finding stuff (surprisingly) cheaper at Bikes on Wheels.

TRaffic Jammer 07-21-06 11:51 AM

Fresh Blacktop ALERT!!!
Queens' Quay/Yonge South side bike path just west of the intersection. Filled in and stamped down with a shovel, not rolled. Truck and car tire marks in it and little asphalt pebbles abound. You have been warned, definite mess to hit at speed.

Yeah.. that was pretty crazy. He pole-vaulted down an embankment.. :P I can't remember who it was right now, but it was someone fairly high up in the GC.

ps. man.. someone get Rasmussen a ****ing cheeseburger.

Shiznaz 07-21-06 01:17 PM

It was Cyril Dessel and every frenchman who wanted another frenchman to win the TDF cringed and yelled "PUTAIN!" because he pretty much crashed himself out of the last shred of contention he (and france) had.

PS. don't try typing your message in the quick reply box before the page has 100% loaded because once it is 100% loaded it seems to erase everything you just wrote irrepairably.

P.P.S. Wes, you're saying that to the guy who doesn't bring water on monumental climbs because it weighs too much. He is an actual real weight weenie, not like those donut ride ones who keep all their accessories in the back pockets of their jerseys and have 30 pounds of flab on their top tube. Don't eat a cheeseburger and your bike frame is effectively a quarter pound lighter (My god pro athletes are insane )

hahaha.. yeah, definitely insane. Dude looks like he's going through chemo.

TRaffic Jammer 07-21-06 01:45 PM

he's like what 5'11 and 150?

Shiznaz 07-21-06 01:59 PM

According to OLN I am skinnier and taller than him (well, taller at least. Skinnier fluctuates).
Team RABOBANK
Born 01/06/1974 in Holbaek (DAN)
Height 1.75 m
Weight 69 kg

somnambulant 07-21-06 02:10 PM

I can't remember where I saw it, but the numbers I saw were 5'9" (so yeah, 1.75m) and 135lbs (69kg = 152lbs).

ps. the reason I said that initially is because of the headshot of him on the right side of the official tour website today. http://www.letour.fr/2006/TDF/LIVE/us/1800/index.html <- right side, middle picture. I know I have a giant mellon, but he's the only person shown with a loose fitting cycling cap. :P (not to mention the sunken cheeks). SKELETOR!

Yeah, his head is like a skull with a layer wet tissue paper draped over it. Some of the pros remind me of greyhounds, so sinuey.

Shiznaz 07-21-06 02:39 PM

I won alot of arm wrestling matches that way. People think that muscle size makes you stronger, but muscle length and density is just as important. Combined with the extra leverage of longer limbs and ligaments attaching to the bone further from the joints and I could beat people with way bigger muscles than mine. Plus its the kind of muscle you keep; you don't lose it from not lifting 250 pound weights every day.

PS. I predict that by the end of the weekend we will have surpassed the pictures sticky. The time of exodus is near. Ready yourselves because those who are left behind will just make things confusing!

32flavours 07-21-06 05:40 PM

Aww. Thanks. It is kinda cute, innit?

I got the powergrips at Curbside, I'm not sure if they still have any though, I think I bought their only pair, and they'd been sitting there for awhile.

In other news, Kaibot- I think you gave me a rear brake. Which doesn't make sense since you only had the one and had been using it on your track bike? But the screw thing that goes through the hole in the fork doesn't go through all the way and it seems to fit the rear brake hole. Is it possible that my fork is extra fat or something, or is it more likely that you did indeed give me a rear instead of the front?

And thus I start off on my brakeless adventure...
