i hope the rainy season ends before CM tomorrow.. ben, you make it out to any CM rides on your side o' the world?

heh...not even bad content really, except for their poor english ability.

there is not much of a `critical mass` here for organized rides, since everyone rides and bikes are just a normal, accepted part of the transportation mix. there is not even much of a defined cycling subculture, at least for advocacy purposes.

We used to race the cops here in the Annual St. Stephen's Charity Race, a relay . The last time they came out the elite women's messenger team laid a whoopin on them. On top of that (and I was right there to see it) this guy named Curty...who incidently had no love for the police....purposely t-boned one of the cops at the cross-over junction. Both he and the cop went for a serious tumble. I asked him later why he sped up to hit the cop and knock himself out of the race? His reply...."when will I get the chance again to crash out a cop with no repercussion's? Touche mon frere...touche. They stopped coming out after that for some strange reason. The firefighters tho....those guys can ride. They finished second to my mighty team of ringers (Me, Joe Diaz, Kevin X) and stuck around after for pints and hitting on the cute messenger girls. Those guys rock.

So it appears the proverbial $hit has hit the fan in the Tour. Basso and Ulrich being asked to not start. I have not had a chance to look at the full list but the Spanish named names this morning and it seems quite a few of the heavy hitters are not going to be allowed to start. Where does this leave the pool. I dont know. See how it plays out for the rest of the day.

cavernmech 06-30-06 07:01 AM

So how about a pool for the riders we think WILL be allowed to race.....Jeez what a mess.

Driving to CM AND thinkin' there's free parking downtown on a Friday night. Maybe in residential somewhere off the main streets. This post my dear Operator, leaves you in a state of lameness previously unheard of. The CM ppl would be ashamed. :p

wow. Well, we could always delay the deadline for pool entries until Saturday at midnight, unless you think tomorrow's prologue (ITT) is going to highlight the eventual jersey winners. At least this way we'll all know who's starting.

sweep242 06-30-06 07:41 AM

Ok Kids don’t forget no Beer or LCBO stores open tomorrow & most other places!
Stock up
Cheers

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 07:41 AM

I think you might have to do that. They'll have riders dressed and ready to go with officials arguing right up until start time. I like how some teams are cutting the star, avoid the controversy and get your jersey on TV, that's all that matters to them in the long run anyway.

jeremywhitehorn 06-30-06 07:56 AM

i've seen people drive to critial mass in the past; sort of socially-conscious-former-anarchist-now-lives-in-oakvile-but-wants-to-hang-on-to-their-roots types. if you're going to drive i suppose it's better than driving to costco...

speaking of irony cavern, i just read on cycling news that amidst all the news of dobing and such that a certain Mr. David "EPO" Miller is ready to return to race the tour. it's like a big revolving door for drug use.

anyone read that article on 'roids that i posted.

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 08:00 AM

Social anarchists are allowed to buy in Oakville?

That's how I read that...... Yea the revolving door is pretty gross. Let's cut em all off.... get a whole new batch of pros, new pro organizations and sponsors that will police their charges. I still think creating a pro cycling town and isolating them while they are under contract isn't such a crazy idea.

  to whole foods and MEC

SamHouston 06-30-06 08:04 AM

I think I'm going to go to CM tonight. Where is it & where does it start from & the time and all that? I haven't been in a Toronto CM since 99'.

I feel a need to make a goofy freaking outfit for it too....anyone else going to do that? I'm going to ride the wife's bike too, that with a goofy costume should be fun.

Anyone care to have a lookin stoopid contest at CM tonight?

COME ON!@ Bring it! I'll look dummer n' alla youse!

TRaffic Jammer 06-30-06 08:07 AM

It took him a long time to come to grips with the helmet rules after he stopped juicing. It's all about the hair.

SamHouston 06-30-06 08:09 AM

Yall all seem to be here? Who alls going to CM tonight? Anyone gonna dress up?

C'mon Keith, wear that dress that you wore at New Years!
