Yeah, good times.

PS: Old Speckled Hen /does/ have a toasted marshmallow aftertaste, and goes down nice after riding 120km in smog-soup air.

Thanks for the tip Cavernmech. Hopefully they have some in stock. On a related note, do 1 inch threaded steerer tubes use a standard pitch. What size die might be used on that?

operator 07-30-06 01:22 PM

Alright guys. How do I remove these annoying logos from my handlebar and levers.

Acetone didn't do jack to them. Any other chemical solutions I can try? They're both metal.

Your usual nuts and bolts on a bike are standard pitches and diameters. Things like steerer tubes and B.B. shells use bicycle specific (and therefore 4x more expensive) tooling for the threads. I called every industrial tap and die manufacturer I could find and none of them had a 1.37 x 24 B.B. tap for instance. Steerer tube might be easier to find. Atlas is the local spot that would most likely have something like that...I wouldn't count on it tho.
Oh yeah.....1 inch steerers can have several different thread pitches also.

I used a permanent black marker to black out the logos it works ok, not 100% though.
Cheers

Yay, I'm glad you liked the Old Speckled Hen, darkmother.

I took some logos like that off my seat post with some nail polish remover and it worked perfectly.

BTW, is that your bike in the pic? If it is, I'm jealous.

Ronin....how's the chainline with that wheel? Notice any weirdness with the spoke pattern?

Yeah, the chainline was off. But a new bottom bracket fixed that! The original BB was already too wide anyways.

:D

STAY AT THE BACK REGARDLESS OF HOW FIT YOU ARE. WATCH LISTEN AND LEARN. There are many elite riders here.

5. If you’re a tri-athlete great, leave the bars off your bike. If there (sic) on, GET TO THE BACK.
Wow can't even ride with handlebars!?? :)

11. If your (sic) serious, about riding, get rid of the poodle legs, and go on a date with Mr. Gillette.
Funniest **** i've read in a while.

While it's nice to read the rules of a peleton, comments like "Consider yourself fortunate" and the aforementioned shaving rules reminds me of why I generally stick to solitary sports. Makes me want to show up in chaps and cowboy hat and shoot people with a capgun as they go by.

I'm gettin' my Pee Wee Herman costume together as we speak. :D
seriously tho...that seems to be the typical roadie attitude these days. Yeah..I consider myself fortunate to ride with a bunch of stuck up, know it all's who seem to enjoy belittling others ability level. WOW! I am really lucky!

jyossarian 07-31-06 12:20 PM

ya'll be careful crossing the streets up there.

when you're in the tri-bars, you're in an unstable position and it is extremely dangerous for other riders to draft you.

TRaffic Jammer 07-31-06 12:50 PM

Makes me wanna create a peleton of messengers, and other like minded misfits, and EAT THE DONUT!!!!
Sorry but that kind of really badly written attitude makes me want to have a full on mudder 4x4 at the turn around point when they all park to get snackies, then drive over all their bikes. I like how there sooo many courses that we mortals can ALMOST become good enough to ride with them, but they won't tell you where. *******S!!!!!
