This is what you were doing instead of coming out? Watching guys lip synch on the internet? Don't forget to look up this exciting episode on You-Tube: Bailer-Boy from across the Block

eyefloater 08-07-06 03:02 PM

I did come out ... granted I was 45 minutes late, but there was a token effort made.

Ill Mitch 08-07-06 03:14 PM

I came out

You're a token!

STEEKER 08-07-06 03:37 PM

 NO SH*T you all came out, maybe you should all have a comming gay party thing. f*ck ya all fooled me

eyefloater 08-07-06 03:47 PM

People still make gay jokes?

operator 08-07-06 04:10 PM

eyefloater we were just in the park, oh well.

cavit8 08-07-06 05:47 PM

Anyway, eyefloater, we still have to get you very drunk while you regale you with tales of your tour. Wes too.

Keeping my eye on the rest of the board, what do people think about getting our own board elsewhere like Chicago, SF, and Minneapolis?

eyefloater 08-07-06 06:43 PM

It seems like we already have it. I could do w/out the rest of the bfssfg forum aside from the occasional ceya/11.4 post, but we've been hanging out in the Toronto Fixed thread for so long a dedicated Toronto forum seems a bit redundant. That being said, I'd certainly use it if people are interested. I wonder how easy it will be to direct new people to our own forum though. Do you figure most people hear about Toronto Fixed via word of mouth or by stumbling across Bike Forums and then discovering the Toronto thread?

That's how I found it :)

cavit8 08-07-06 07:06 PM

That would be my only concern. The only way I found the other forums was via Absntr's sig line. We've been pretty much able to do what we want in this thread probably as it keeps us riff raff out of the main forum. I'm just thinking that it would be ours, we could do what we want, and, like many of the other city based folks, give us our own place. I'm also aware that this fragmenting of the community may not be a good thing for BF overall. Unless we have enough folks saying "Yay" then there's likely not a lot of point. What I may do is throw one up as a subdomain and see if we use it. If not, then it's deep-sixed.

operator 08-07-06 08:57 PM

I really don't think there's enough people on this thread to justify one whole other forum, and we'll also get no other new people once we do. Or it'll decrease substantially given that this is the most popular bike forum on the internet. Or close to it anyways.

duppy.conqueror 08-07-06 09:11 PM

yo it was nice meeting yall at moonbeam today!

ride next weekend?

A Toronto forum made for us would be great despite me moving soon. I stumbled on the "Toronto fixed" via bike forums looking around & it is working great for our own little world. Just keep the "Toronto fixed" thread alive with a link in the sig that would hook new peeps. Golden.
But there are costs to go along with this kind of thing? Witch reminds me note to self become a b/f member soon!
Cheers

eyefloater 08-07-06 09:34 PM

When/where are you moving?

Ya in the grand scheme of things we are a relatively small group say about 15 - 20ish & lurkers who knows.
But it would be cool despite the small #'s
Cheers
BikeForums for sure the most popular.

The benefits would probably be in doing things that aren't all that effective on BF, like selling stuff. I'm not convinced that a seperate buy/sell forum works well for specific stuff. The trade thread here is probably evidence to that. Local threads for mapped routes, photo galleries, get togethers, ride shares for trips to Mt. Forest, foo for other stuff not fixed related, would all be options. The issue is how many folks would regularly use it. My hope is more than use it here, particularly as we could link from here and get it listed on various engines too.

Cost is next to nothing unless the band width goes nuts (i.e. eyefloater can't upload lip-synching videos).

I think we were in the shop together last week sometime.. someone at least took a Jamie Roy out for a spin and then came back in so Keith could build it up with a smaller frame. Was that you?

cavernmech 08-08-06 08:05 AM

So the purge was a relative success....$160 for the BMEF. Not bad for a bunch of crap.....I mean awesome useful stuff. Getting ready for the big dump run. For future reference I am gonna hold on to the 2 cruisers and the 3 road frames should anyone need one or know someone looking for a conversion frame. Cheers all! K.

:(

On a related note, I don't know how you Toronto people sleep at night... I just moved down to St Clair/Dufferin and it was a sauna in my room (but it was a lot quieter as I didn't hear any crickets outside my window).

Anybody meeting up today (I can come to a lot more CVs now since I actually live in Toronto, yay!)?

I like crickets. Had some in Cambodia. They were tasty, crickety in fact. Good with Red Bull.
