Hate to be the bearer of bad news on a Monday...but I will not be able to make it to London this weekend. The significant others parentals are coming in for the weekend and if I like living (which I do very much) I will be here to greet them.
Sorry guys.

hehehe, luckily my computer is facing in such a way that only people outside of my 'team' ever see it.

Those numbers are for return to london, shortest time possible leaving at 8:30am (2 hrs 5 minutes) from dundas and returning for about 4:30pm (2 hrs 10 minutes). Buses run all day but some of them must go to New York or something first as the duration is listed at over 7 hours and they have exchanges...

I've been caught looking at (bike) porn many times already.

Wow.. those are cheaper than my prices! ;)

Shiznaz 09-18-06 09:43 AM

hmmm... Should I pay 20USD for a set of 39/53 dura ace rings? (take offs from the cross bike I bought. theres 38/46 FSA rings on it right now). How much would a set of these normally run for used?

I would. That's a pretty sweet deal if they are in good shape. They are usually more than 1$ per tooth.

why not just share the cost of a car rental? pretty dirt cheap if split 4-5 ways. if you rent a bike at the track, cargo space won't be an issue either.

TRaffic Jammer 09-18-06 11:34 AM

Rock and roll style and everyone pile into the van with their gear.

easy for you to say since you aren't volunteering your car.. ;)

so, what happened at the raffle draw after last night? I was hoping for a 7:00 or so draw and when that didn't happen my video games became a higher priority, so I didn't stick around. :P

TRaffic Jammer 09-18-06 11:52 AM

oh I'm not thinking about your car....can't do RnR in a car. Collectively rent a van.... Driver gets a seat...as does the winner of the shotgun smackdown...or the race around the block...either or.

SamHouston 09-18-06 12:00 PM

I screwed that up, the bar would normally be open at 6pm, but I mis-communicated with the proprietor & didn't find out he wouldn't be there til 7pm last night.

He got there though, and more people showed up, then a lot more people showed up and there were some more tickets sold. I think it was about 8-830pm when we had the drawing. Only a few prizes went to people that were in attendance but it was still fun. We set up a lil TV and watched some TV thing on NYC messers, had a few pints & kicked back.

I'm pretty sure a Toronto BF person won something, the NYC lock I think.

We made the $$ we need, or came close enough that we'll manage somehow, to send the Toronto GG winners the the CMWC! Thanks mostly to Leah & Keith, for throwing the race and selling lots of tickets, between the 2 of them they raised over 2/3rds of the cash!

Huge thanks to all the sponsors, without whom it would have been very, very hard to sell raffle tickets! Sponsors contributed about $1700CAD retail value worth of stuff, and we turned it into over 2G in Jetplane Ticket $$!

Excellent.. I'm glad to hear you guys managed to raise all the funds! Good luck to the riders in October! Hopefully we can kick some ass again this year. :)

ps. the guy who was outside when we were waiting that rides the bianchi pista.. is that Brooks? I see him ride past my place fairly often when I'm leaving for work in the morning.

eyefloater 09-18-06 12:22 PM

No Angus for Mike?

*sorrow*

eyefloater 09-18-06 12:59 PM

So Keith ... when's the next crop of IRO stuff coming in?

Shiznaz 09-18-06 02:41 PM

Congrats on the money raised!

I say that one of us who is a) over 25 and b) has a valid driving license should rent a van (panel van or mini van... some kind of van) and then we can just deal with the miscomfort and danger each way.... I can't see it adding up to more than 20 bucks per person depending on how many people are coming. I would spearhead this but I don't think they let me rent vehicles and my driver's licence is expired.

If someone else wants to do this, they can go for it. However, according to Mike, the track combo can hold a maximum of 8 people and there is already 7 confirmed (including my carload of 4 people).

Shiznaz 09-18-06 02:54 PM

hmmm.. I've just checked my email and it seems like there is only one spot left for the track combo anyways (instructor takes a max of 8 students)... that means that if wes' car is full, that the last dude would have to make it out to London on their own for 9:30am, and the velodrome is kind of isolated.

Maybe we should arrange to do another track 2/3 combo session next month as well?

edit: Wes beat me to it

TRaffic Jammer 09-18-06 02:56 PM

RnR Shizy....that's the way. The van isn't allowed to have any form of function climate control either.
