Yes, but I think you can likely pick up a day-license.. that's what I used to do for my occasional mtn bike races back in the day, anyway.

edit: whoops.. didn't see keith's response.

hah.. yeah, I realize my top roadbike speed is pretty lame (especially since I've done 50+ offroad on a rigid mtn bike).. there aren't any long enough hills in the GTA. :D

I have been getting out of here right at 6 the last few days as I am fighting the sickness. I will be around on Saturday tho. Ordering the IRO wont be a prob as long as he gets the order before the 1st of Oct. Waiting on the raffle winners to do an order....realistically mid next week.

Ok, no big rush. I'll stop by after the tour d'onut on Saturday and see if you are around. Unless I get 3 flats in a row like last time, use my last patch, and have to fill my tire with water from a puddle one pump barrel at a time so I can ride the last 20 km home like last week. Where is this bad karma coming from??

TRaffic Jammer 09-20-06 09:07 AM

Wes....I'm not laming on your top speed at all. All speeds are relative....

It's ok.. the 58 year old heart-attack survivor I was riding with hit a top speed about 2km/h less than me. It was lame. :)

noice..

so, when are we going to do this single-malt tasting session? I'll volunteer my apartment and my own cooking skeelz for some tasty tastiness.

^^^^^^ We still have to have that track night.... where was it in the East again?
Wes... what's the Enduro format? I wouldn't mind trying a race or three in the next year.
I'll need to be baby stepped through racing. Can offer up some kitchen skillz as well.

I've never raced one, so I don't know! I think with a team of 4-6 people is a lovely mix of beer drinkin' and riding.. :) Cavernmech/Darkmother/Kaibot have (I think) all raced them before, so they're probably more knowledgable.

And yeah, what ever happened to the running track idea? Let's do it!

I was on a 10 person team this year and I would definately like to be on a smaller one next time...not enuf laps available. With a little effort on our parts we could shurely come up with a few sponsors to cover the costs of the team...perhaps some jerseys. I think 6 would be perfect. That way everyone gets a night lap also. Night laps are the *****!

The mountain bike relay races are really fun, they are only as competative as you want them to be. As the number of riders/team goes up, the amount of beer consumption/rider increases exponentially. We should put together a team, doesn't have to be super hardcore.

Yeah, a 10 person team is way too much sitting around. 6 would be nice, probably 4 laps per person. I'd love to do it-I'll even bust it single speed to keep it on topic.

I will say that an effort to get a corporate site is worthwhile....water tap and hydro on site. Makes it wayyy easier.

somnambulant 09-20-06 12:16 PM

word. Well, I'm definitely in for doing a team thing if we can get enough peeps. Sounds like we have 4 people already somewhat interested just since I mentioned it this morning.

keith: now price me up a single-speed misfit 29er with a suspension fork of some sort.. Or, at least just the frameset. I know you mentioned them before.. also: a test-ride would be nice. :P

Offhoff 09-20-06 12:33 PM

I'll ride if I can find a bike to ride it on. Night laps sound wicked.

I'm definately down for doing this, it'd be sweet.

And I'm also down for some running track riding somewhere around the city.

Snipe Hunting?

TRaffic Jammer 09-20-06 01:08 PM

Sounds fun....I'm not well geared for lights, night laps are BLACK. I'm interested though, I can do dusk and dawn lappies (OR MAYBE borrow my buds lights) hmm I wonder if The Star wants to sponsor a team.
Where was that nice track near O'Conner? It's here somewhere in the pages of the past in this the most impressive of threads. Keith wanna go at the last 100m ?
