You cuddle toy sociopath you. I had to place HH on ignore. I think Blue Order might be an actual police officer, but you know those "letter of the law" types. It doesn't matter if the law kills everyone in a 100mile radius, it's still the law.

Hey guys,

How many of you have your own bike repair stand? I am contemplating buying a used Park PCS-1 stand on craigslist.

I really should get myself one...

Thoughts?

Speaking of which, there's an urbanite locked up in front of my building today with risers.. I feel like keying "biter" into the downtube. I kid! I kid!

ps. as if I was the only person on a fixed-gear trying to look cool there. It's hipster central! :P

Man am I glad I get to lock up indoors. Theres never really an occasion where I leave my bike locked up outside for more than an hour these days.

Especially with the ring post debacle... Its getting really tough to find something safe to lock to. Extra especially with a krypto mini!

Offhoff 10-12-06 12:54 PM

I've gotten over being scared about leaving my bike locked up. If its gone its gone there isn't much I can do about it and I refuse to run my life based on where i can put my bike. I love my bike but its still just a bike and its main job is to get me from point A to point B. If some ****** grabs it it'll be pretty hard to move anyways, its the only like it there is. Anyways to each his own.

Is there gonna be another CV before we all winterize and pleasure riding is put away till next spring??

Well I ride year round on the same bike, so winter means little to me. :)

Oh I bike all winter too. I just don't usually go out for long pleasure rides through the streets of toronto in -20 night temps so I thougth we might all get together before the freezing begins

TRaffic Jammer 10-12-06 01:10 PM

So none of you are going to come on snow storm rides? :(
.....because I got high, because I got high, ....

Offhoff 10-12-06 01:19 PM

If I manage to afford a set of beater winter wheels then perhaps but I fear for my hubs with all that salt and the snow and the...wait what were we talking about?

Shiznaz 10-12-06 01:27 PM

You not caring if someone steals your bike but being too protective of your hubs to ride them through the winter?

Offhoff 10-12-06 01:32 PM

Thats right Shiznaz, your brain gone boom from the hypocrisy yet?

TRaffic Jammer 10-12-06 01:36 PM

Nonsense ....same hubs for 6 years now.

I ended up getting BBQ pork and sausage at a place w/ BANH MI in big letters on the sign. Now I need dessert. Any suggestions on where to get rugelach?

You running MTB hubs? How often do you end up repacking them?

TRaffic Jammer 10-12-06 01:52 PM

Haven't yet. This will be the first year. Only thing I've bought are brake pads and tyres. Granted, I know this is a bad practice, but I am also a firm believer of the protective qualities of a layer of filth and grease.

Not bad-that's reliable equipment. Winter weather really kills my stuff. I went through 3 sets of cartridge bearings in my IRO rear hub last year-every time they had failed because the grease got washed out of the bearing. The shimano road bike front hub got by with two overhauls a year -maybe it would tollerate less, but there usually wasn't much grease left in there when I opened it up. I think the MTB hubs these days really are much better sealed-all my stuff is too old to know for sure though-I'm running oldschool 7 speed XT on my CX and MTB. Are you running those shimano ones wth the cone shaped rubber boots? Looks like they have way better seals.

somnambulant 10-12-06 02:31 PM

Speaking of snow.. look outside.

TRaffic Jammer 10-12-06 02:35 PM

Yes to the cone rubber outter booty seals.
