Actually.. I just took the a gmaps pedometer screenshot then did some Image editing to make it look like a real race map. Inspired by the Tour de France TV things....

Getting lost is the best, especially at night. It's all about exploring places you've never been. Then finding out you're even further away from home then you expected.

I'm so glad i changed my tires though. SERFAS (as cheap as they are) got NOTHING on Specilized All Conditions.

Specially with wet leaves lying around, and night time temps dippin' into the frosties.
I have a little loop in town. Not that far though, maybe half that...more of a digestive spin.

I dunno I set it so long ago I forget... Maybe I did something sneaky and renamed it as a .jpg... that kind of thing sometimes works.

Be sure to punch some louver shaped vent holes in your top tube as well. 50 000 York university students can't be wrong.

TRaffic Jammer 11-06-06 12:46 PM

Yup gotta vent all that hot air.

He's on the Toronto Fixed mailing list that goes out via edit:Yahoo. JeremyW is also on that list. Seems like a pretty good deal if your interested but I haven't seen any good photos etc of the frame. He wants to trade for a 52-53 track frame or so said his e-mail.

I swear I've seen someone riding this frame somewhere

sr20det 11-06-06 04:57 PM

yea. that marinoni was one my of most interesting purchases.
the frameset is gone now though. It was a 58cm box... which I'm obviously not tall enough to ride. I have a garbage green marinoni now that fits.

Pretty much it passed through 3 owners before me.
The first two were racers but they bought it because it was nice. It didn't fit any of them properly.
Then the person who sold it to me saw it about 8 years ago at Ziggys in Kitchener.
It was too nice of a deal to pass off and he bought it and kept it as an extra.
He rode it at trexltown and at a 6-day and never touched it since.
(that guy has an AWESOME colnago. and he's suposedly a regular at forest city)
He also has a brother that races.

I scraped together all my money and went broke in the process of acquiring the bike. It obviously didn't fit so I had to let go of the frameset. I made a killing selling off the frameset and kept all the c-record components.

I then bought another complete Marinoni in my size with the money I got from selling the old frameset. This one came with the older record grouppo.

So in the end I ended up with a Marinoni in my size and both the old school and new c-record grouppo for about $900 CDN.
I also somehow ended up with some tri bars and aero helmet through the trades :p

the ugly green Marinoni is up on my photobucket:

sr20det 11-06-06 05:58 PM

yar.

btw, is it true that you can order ambrosio rims?
I also want to peek at marinoni's stock of vintage goodness.

The "no animated gif" thing is new and shiz has had that one up forever. I played around a bit animating my poodle avatar and similar, it won't let me upload and catches an incorrect extension. I guess peeps putting up animated avatars and animations in their signature line just got to be too much. It actually is kind of annoying depending what it is.

And did anyone make it to the Hallowe'en alley cat? Pics?

And a local set of Miche cranks

Is that you selling those cranks cavit8? Cause that's new in box price.

I hit a new low in cager behavior this morning. I'm riding South on Ossington, about to merge into the center lane to turn left onto Harbord. I shoulder check and there's a gap (I'm already taking the lane because people drive far faster than the posted 40km/h), plus the traffic ahead at the intersection is stopped so I can easily switch lanes. I hand signal a left turn, and start moving out and then the guy approaching behind me leans on his horn. I glance back and finish moving over into the center lane. I take a better look over my right shoulder and the guy's window is down... I think this is a good thing since he'll actually hear me when I yell at him, but before I get a chance, as he drives by he actually grabs my arm! wtf?! It's just for a second, but still we're in traffic and he could have totally killed me! What if I was a fairly inexperienced cyclist? Not to mention the fact that he was obviously cutting it pretty close if he could reach out of his window and make contact. He's yelling something incoherent with a thick accent and I manage to flap my arm and yell "this means left turn" but then he was gone (the traffic at the intersection had started moving again).

The thing that annoys me the most is that I've taken to remembering arsehole drivers' license plate numbers, but I was so shocked by this guy's actions that I totally forgot to look.

*sigh*

Deep cleansing breaths.

TRaffic Jammer 11-07-06 08:16 AM

DAMN, son of a ......Glad you didn't go down homie.
Nice to see you otherwise, we were wondering where you were.

*shutters* I've NEVER had that happen

somnambulant 11-07-06 08:27 AM

yeah, just taking a little break from spending so much time on the web. But I had to share that one.

TRaffic Jammer 11-07-06 08:28 AM

You can check out anytime you like......

Shiznaz 11-07-06 08:30 AM

Thats why I always signal left with a novelty dismembered arm. When they tug at it it pulls out of my sleeve and sprays fake blood everywhere.
