In the meantime for all of those of you that still have your precious saddles - I've been gluing ballbearings into the hex heads of my seatpost collars for a while and haven't had a seat stolen since... You can gouge them out when you need to adjust but it just provides a little "awwwwwww **** it" type deterrent for a potential thief.

I've seen this done as well as putting carpenter's glue in there. I am such a geek though, I am always adjusting things and switching parts out for fun. Lately, I am pretty anal about locking up my bike and I do my best to park it within view of a camera. Pretty much all of those Green P Parking lots have cameras on the booths and/or change machines, so often they are good places to lockup.

There are also quite a few buildings downtown that have cameras on their garage doors, so that works too. The Bell building behind the Eaton Centre has a good bike lockup with a camera on it and about 10 racks so there is usually a spot to be had.

mmm.... speaking of lockups, there are a few doubled city posts on Eglinton, west of Dufferin now. I might have also spotted some on Vaughan road.

That is a bummer, I will keep my eye out (and get a chain around mine!). What size post do you need? I may have it and can drop it off with the BB.....

Keep in mind that the "brooks thief" is more likely a cyclist than a crackhead (not to say that they are mutually exclusive), as he/she is carrying around a set of allen keys. A friend of mine had his saddle secured with a length of chain wrapped in a tube.. but it was stolen, so I assume the thief had a chain tool available.

If thieves are going to carry common bike tools, the only real option (other than jet's camera strategy) is to use a second lock to secure components that are worth stealing.

who was asking about 1 1/8" threadless stems? i've got a few kicking around for those in need...

as for the bike stuff i'm putting out, i think it's going to be out today. backyard of twenty one boustead av. if no one picks it up by the weekend it's going to the curb.

Awesome ride last night guys and gals! New sprint spot was found for atleast next week. Watch the DSR site for info over the weekend. We are expecting and wanting a fairly big group for the start of CMWC so tell your friends.

On another note, the purge continues! I have an older 17'' Specialized Hardrock (Steel) built as a cool SS commuter I have no need for now. Wheels are White Eno/XT on Mavic Rims with crazy fast Specialized Fatboy Tires. Brakes are LX levers and Deore Vee's. New parts include Easton EA30 Stem and Bar and Ritchey Comp Headset. Has a steel fork too! haha. I'm looking in the $300 range. I'll post pics tonight. PM me if interested.

What could you usually get it down to? I'll phone Wheel and Sprocket and see if I can work something out...

cupcrazy4... your name reminds me of both "2 Girls 1 Cup" and "4 Girls Finger Paint" at the same time...

anyways. I miss my bike... and shipping looks like (way to lie to me air canada) that it would cost more to ship it, then the bike its self costs...

Crap, the one size that I don't have quite enough of is 27.2, I was hoping it would be a 27.0 or 26.8, sorry.

i've got a spare veloflex pave yellow folder if you want it.

MattRennick 06-05-08 04:49 PM

urbane has a bunch of different colours of shwalbe stelvios... i've got a new / in box neon green one i'd be happy to part with for what i paid for it...

one thing to think about re: brightly colours tires / fixed gear riding... you're likely to go through tires (rear, specifically) a lot faster... fancy coloured tires tend to be a) more expensive and b) less durable... stick to black or grey, you'll be happy you did.

kylehutton 06-05-08 05:03 PM

another option is probikekit.com

they have victoria rubino pros in tons of colours for $20 shipped.

cupcrazy4 06-05-08 05:06 PM

maybe I'll go coloured front, black rear--still have to wait 'till my wheels get here to make up my mind anyways. thanks for the help.

Clearly he is crazy for the Stanley Cup. Now you have to change your name for a little while....

Reminds me of my friend who used to think Andy Barrie (radio host) looked like a bearded bear.... My whole youth, I equated him with a red faced berry.

you're the first person to guess right: it is for the stanley cup. I don't have to change it though: you can be crazy for stanley all year, :thumb:
