Honestly Shiz your camping, use a cheap plastic cup/nalgene/what you have around. Its still gonna taste great. Just take 2 good general use cups and pour your coffee/water/milk/jack/gin/wine/water/whatever in it and hammer it back.

Stainless steel barware of some sort might work.. like the uber shotglasses. I'm sure there's probably a proper name for them, but that's what I call them. :) Just keep in mind that metal gets awfully hot awfully quickly.. heatsink anyone? But yeah.. I agree with offhoff.. If you're concerned with weight/durability, why bother carrying something extra?

Yeah, because Apple is the first company to give exclusive rights to a wireless provider for a handset..

Offhoff 01-09-07 02:48 PM

Any of you guys want to get together this weekend for a last hurrah before what looks like actual winter begins? Maybe a light ride and then a good drinking session at Sneaky Dees or something...just throwing it out there.

TRaffic Jammer 01-09-07 02:54 PM

I use a plastic drip ..paper filters and use ground espresso, I make a drip version of it.... stronger than your average coffee, pretty tasty, and easy to pack if say camping or taking to work.

So you know Apple will make more in the bidding than they will the selling of the hand sets (and that will be a nice earner as well). An Ipod screen (stunning 3.5 inches), nano RAM, some licenced phone guts, and a touch screen. 600 bones US/8Gigs.

Cavit8, item: heat gun of death, random drop from bikechain, type of drop: rare, can be upgraded or picked up.

Offhoff 01-09-07 03:11 PM

Have you guys been doing that raid for awhile hoping to get that drop?

How many DMG points does it have?

The espresso thingie I just bought won't fit regular cups because the area beneath the spouts and on the platform are quite small (designed to fit an espresso cup). I have a lightweight plastic mug I use for camping, that might fit in a squeeze, but I don't want to use anything plastic on this since it may melt from being above the stove. Regular espresso cups are heavy and bulky...

Thus some metal shotglasses to supplement the plastic cup would probably be the most lightweight and durable option. Plus I'll have extra espresso cups or shotglasses should we need to entertain anyone along the way. Ideally they will be able to fit inside the moka pot itself, so won't take up any space.

I just won't bring a tire pump to compensate for the extra weight.

I figured you could just tip it under the spout. You can't really leave these puppies unattended anyway, but I guess being over a jet-engine like camp stove probably wouldn't be very nice for a lexan cup. :) Pumps are for *******.

Yes. Maybe on Sunday (unless the forecast looks better for Saturday). Meet for coffee.. bust out a 30k ride or so.. then go someplace for lunch + beers. Sounds like a decent plan. Anyone else game?

Offhoff 01-09-07 04:16 PM

Looking at the weather right now it seems that it won't even be nice enough to ride Saturday is a high of 5 with a 60% chance of rain, it only gets worse for Sunday...

Shiznaz 01-09-07 06:13 PM

Oh man I'm so jacked up on caffeine right now I can't sit still. I'm cutting myself off.

Also, steel or aluminum?

i have a steel one and it's not worth the money (the seals are mediocre and so i'm always left with a 1/2 pot of water in the bottom and yes i have changed the seals), the aluminum ones you can buy at Tap Phong for $10 work fine (kitchen stuff plus sells them too for about the same price), they are as good as the bialettas (also for sale at TP) of the same design (i've had both). that valve sounds like a sales gimmick to me; the only trick to good crema is never ever use high heat and have your grounds the right consistensy, although it's never as full as with a proper espresso machine.

if you really want to splurge then do yourself a favour and take a trip to the Faema store on davenport (at ossington), they have the moka pots in all shapes and sizes.

oh and why not break down and just go to starbucks? it serves me well when i was an office jockey. sometimes you have no choice.

i'm just a journalism student, we have a penchant for talking out of our asses, so maybe i'm way off here. since apple's products are approximately 500 times more aesthetically attractive than the competitors', and appeal to college students and affluent young people with too much to spend ... i'd say whoever won the wireless contract is pretty happy to inherit some of said brand cache.

that said, even if i had $600 to blow, i still wouldn't buy this thing. safari browsing, no 3g capabilities, and it's the same size as motorola brick phones from 1994.

I don't own/use a cellphone, and generally hate the idea of them, but I lust after that item so! I may already be a mac convert, but they may convert me to the iphone too. Damn!

(Yay, 3rd post in a row)

I think even if the capacity isn't that large, and the battery life is marginally better than the compitition, it leads an exciting path. Just look at the ipod. The first one I got years ago had an 8 hour life span. By now, the nano gets 24. I wouldn't get the iphone now, but in a couple of years when it's refined, I think it will probably rock beyond all imagination.
