Cool, how did you do it with spacers & a tensioner? Eno? I have done the ladder great results last winter just remember use brass nips as I found out alloy will disincarnate fast.

44 x 16 was my magic gear no tensioner needed. But a little heavy winter wise.

I should go take a pic of it, they used a convert kit but did not have a tensioner kit so the rear derailer is used for that,, the nips are still there after three winters ( not clean looking) I don't have the cash for brass,,,,,, be back with a pic

Could always try a halflink to get the tension right.

I posted this in mechanics thread as well, but it is a s/s question. I have a cog threaded on an old hyperglide cassette, and tonight I noticed a bad grinding noise, could feel it as well, coming from the cassette. Checked all the usual suspects, cones, bearings, etc, and still a nasty noise. Constant as well, but worse when I coast and loader at a certian point in the wheels rotation. Any ideas on what to look for, or could it be that the internal part of the hub that makes up the 'freewheel' is gone? Don't know anything about the inner workings of the cassette. I've had the wheel for 4 years and bought it used so I don't know how old it is, or how well it maintained before I had it. I only started to use it alot 8 weeks ago. Any ideas/suggestions are welcome. I don't really want to switch to the axiom hub yet, it's too loud.

Sounds like the internals of the freehub are shot. You can replace this pretty easily. Repacking freehubs is not a job I would recommend unless you like to be frustrated by scads of tiny bearings and springs. What model hub do you have? I might have an old wheel with a usable freehub.

DT or Wheelsmith are both top quality. Brass nipples for strength and durability. I would spend the extra 40 cents per spoke for butted, lighter and build a better wheel. You will need to know the length so take the rim and hub with you when you want to purchase them so the shop can calculate it for you. If its a rear wheel I would stick with a 3 cross pattern.

That is a pretty good price for a pair of great brakes but be careful, Probikekit's stuff is mostly take-offs ie: not really used but they have likely been mounted and perhaps used for a test ride or something. I bought a couple of BBs from them, very very cheaply, and they were advertised as new but they had been installed on a bike at one time or another. It wasn't a big deal for me but some people are particular about that stuff. But 11$CDN for a Campy BB, shipped, I am fine with it.

Never had that problem with PBK before. Most of the stuff was brand spanking new. Bought tires, chain, campy groupsets, bottle cages, bar tape. You should definitley take that up with them. Actually you're the only person who's had this complaint so far.
