I paid $500 for my Campy Coppi track in 98' NOS from 1976. 98' also got me a Campy Gardin from the 70's also....$450. In 99' I paid $750 for my GT Pulse...complete Dura-Ace, CXP 30 tubies and CXP 30 clinchers. Those were only the ones that I bought for myself...many others were purchased and resold (usually with clincher rim updates) to friends. Those days are sadly gone.

one of these days i'm going to go into high park cycles and grab the raliegh carlton track bike with full campy sr of the wall and run once i chloroform the owner. i'm not sure he knows what he has. either that or he's keeping a museum.

okay, in speaking to Cam last week over coffee we brought up the idea of this scotch tasting we've been talking about for so long. i'm curious if anyone else has some time off over the festivus break when they're not visiting relatives or what have you. i know i've got a couple weeks off school and at least a handfull off work so i'd like to pick a date and just do this thing. it will be nice and cold out too. whose around and free between christmas and new years?

I think they will come back again. Things seem to be slowing down a bit and the trend is slowly doing what all trends do, die. In a couple of years, the hipsters will be selling all their frame and components and things will be cheap again. Maybe even cheaper, once the flood starts.

Not sure if you can still get these, but I've had good luck with Sun M14a's. Light, no annodizing, no machining, pinned, semi aero, single eyelets. Pretty much oldschool. No problems with mine until I wore through the brake surface on 'em (winter use). When I swapped a new rim onto the wheel I couldn't get the bare, used rim to collapse by sitting on it-usually it is easy.

It really pisses me off that there are not many good quality, moderate cost rims around. Just more and more flashy crap, and ever bigger, sparklier logos.

I'm looking at the Ambrosio stuff.. It's ALL GOOD stuff.. too bad no one distro's in Tdot

My miches are built to Ambrosio rims, never realized that was such a rarity. I got my wheels from Dave Fix My Bike right down the street on christie from me. Maybe he has a connection.

Ok it's settled. We're riding that route this weekend. I'm going to put my amphibious gear on my Lejeune. That would include styrofoam training "wheels" and a rear tire equipped with paddles. :rolleyes:

Anybody feel like biking west on dundas towards hamilton tomorrow? I'm trying to find a good route to hamilton as I dislike lakeshore. Not starting too early...

Your cross bike would be completely acceptable. Your Jujitsu bike sounds even cooler though. I am still a fan of coasting and gears. In fact I'm going to be looking at this dude's Gios road bike tomorrow. I might be nuts but it sounds sweet and it's my size. My Urbanite is a bit small for me and... well this is a Campy Gios. Just don't let the moderators see that. :eek: More on topic, today I came down the hill on Bayview just north of Bloor/Danforth on my track bike and wow it was a lot of work! It was fun though but man.

So... route suggestions (other than accross the lake)? I'm feeling uncreative. When i ride i usually just aimlessly meander unless I'm at work in which case someone tells me where to go.

Dundas can get pretty quick....Burnamthorpe is cool. Less travelled out there might be Bloor and it's just above Dundas out in Mississaguga. Have fun with that looks fun.
I used to ride out to say, Kipling from Leslie queen , then head north on Martin Grove to about HWY7 in Woodbridge. It hurt nicely.

I basically want a quick route out of the city to the countryside, but I for the life of me can't decide the best way.

Well you are in luck my friend, as I am originally from Mississauga! (Wow for once that's actually a good thing) That route looks fine for the most part. I think once you get to Mississauga it might be a good idea to go up to Burnumthorpe its a lot nicer to ride on than Dundas at that point. The last time I rode to my parent's house I rode straight out Dundas and it was fine until sort of Islington/Kipling ish, at which point it might be good to head north. Coming back on Bloor might not be a bad idea since it is further south on the west end, making a crude "loop" of sorts. So west Dundas, north to Burnumthorpe maybe out to Mississauga road which is a REALLY nice road to ride, maybe take that south hmm crap how could that line up with Bloor. How does that sound any input? I'll try to figure out something for back east maybe?

Okay for country side, without going way west, like west of Mississauga its probably best to hit Mississauga road. Forget going south on it though. Maybe go north. yes! Okay Shiz how far west do you want to go do you care? Because there is some pretty nice country side on the northern end of Mississauga and then we could sorta loop down somehow to come back...
