I don't think that justifies a "snow ride" :)

I can't believe this weather I spent Sunday sessioning hills in Burlington on skateboards. Totally surreal usually we can't get out much past October and we had like 15+ guys riding gnarly hills all day. Super cool. Its supposed to get cold after this weekend, a northern air mass should move in. But we'll see with the El Nino I don't think any weather model is particularly accurate these days.

My friend and I 'sessioned' the road going down to bluffer's park a few times this weekend. That hill really takes as much as it gives... We'll see how much easier it gets once I throw on a mountain cassette.

I was hoping that the snow ride wold involve some messiness, and a good reason to ride my MTB SS. Maybe we can change it to "Ride to the beaches, and get tanned"

Snow/Salt Free Winter Ftw!!!

Shiznaz 01-08-07 10:33 AM

what are you talking about salt free? My bike is totally caked with salt and I see them piling the roads with it every day!

edit: CL WATCH

bianchi with chrome lugs and chainstays, hot pink fade job, aero lever and original cables, 100 bucks. Sounds like a deal to me

This makes me feel guitly for wanting to sell my Bianchi frame for more than double.

Anyone in fixie land have a new or used Surly Tuggnut they want to have leave from? I need one pronto for my Single Speed MTB, but it will be forever before we will order one at my store.

On that note, does anyone else know of a chain tugg that will work with QR or solid axles like the surly one will? I just need something.

*edit* My rear wheel keep slipping because I can't get the Skewer to tighten enough. I broke one already.

Shiznaz 01-08-07 11:09 AM

You guys seriously need to make a parts order! Its been months! You've lost so many purchases from me in the mean time...

It is pretty messed up... but I'm quite happy to be still riding my summer bikes in January!

ronin2046 01-08-07 11:24 AM

Does anyone know if Sam from Under the Weather is around?

I've emailed him twice regarding wanting to purchase a product, but no one has responded...

I_bRAD 01-08-07 11:24 AM

So, does anyone have some recommendations for a budget fixed wheel? I'm still working on my old Miele which is SS now but I want fixed. What I'd really like is Open Pro/Phil Wood... but unless I win the lottery that's not going to happen. I'm thinking maybe a Surly hub and some good but fairly priced hoops, but what other options should I consider?

I just bought the surly flip flip hub for my mtb. Been using it for about a month. Fantastic so far. Had it built to an Alex disc rim for a really good price at cycle Therapy.

We are currently receiving booking over the next week or so, which is probably over 40% of the years P&E. It's the stuff we can only get from US distributors, like the tuggnut, surly hubs, and other cool stuff that we can't order without having a minimum order. It's a drag, but that's the story this time of year for small independent shops with small buying power.

He's posted a couple of times in the forums recently.

Can you guys order in tubus racks? I think they are distributed by Ortleib USA

It's always sort of blown me away that there isn't a consolidated buying group for bicycle shops here. Some outdoor retailers formed the Oasis group which allows larger economy of scale purchases and custom ordering. Maybe too competitive a marketplace...

Probably. If it's with the rest of the Ortleib stuff, we would get it from NRG I believe. Problem is (even though they are a domestic distributer) the minimum order comes into play. I think we can get Surly stuff from them too. Maybe I'll have better luck with that than QBP.

*edit* I'm in class right now. Bike forums is going to make me fail out of school.
