There is a reason they dont make em anymore....they break. A buddy bought the integralter stem/bar...busted it in 4 weeks...no warranty. Have heard the same thing with the stems. I wouldnt trust one but they look sweet.

There's not much they can do for ribs anyway, but this is getting annoying (and maybe it's also paranoia/hypochondria). I can't remember how long it took for them to heal to the point of not being a constant annoyance the last time.

Darkmother/cavernmech: I know you've both had your share of rib injuries.. any advice? (or anyone else, for that matter)

ps. goddamnit if I haven't been regularly sneezing since I hurt myself. I rarely sneeze and it *really* hurts with injured ribs.

Might be worth a trip to the doc. If it is broken it could be rubbing up against something hence the pain. It often took a long time for mine to heal..kind of depends where on the cage it is I think. If it only bothers you when you sneeze or cough, its prolly o.k. If it bugs you all the time, then I would have it checked out. How long has it been? 2 weeks?

Doh! And I just won it too! If it breaks and I hurt myself, who can I sue now? Maybe eBay, they have deep pockets ;)

Comes with one but there are 3 others that I can buy from here: http://www.xxcycle.com/php/_all/shop...er_pin-ups.php

Now that I've won it, maybe the girly thing isn't so tacky ;)

It's mostly just sore with any "major movement" like sneezing, or getting in and out of bed. But for the first have of today is was just kind of sore/achy at other times as well. I think I must have just spent too much time asleep on that side last night. I'm not having trouble breathing or anything.

And yeah, it's been 2 weeks I think.

somnambulant 11-28-06 03:59 PM

Also: did someone in this thread post some sort of CAD-like program for bike building once? I can't find it. You could input all sorts of frame geometry, crank-length, etc, and it would show you a diagram of the bike. Yadda yadda yadda.

Darkmother: I'm looking at you.

Typical healing time would be 4 plus weeks. Perhaps Kim has the "Jimmy Arms"?
I would give it another week unless it gets worse.

Okay, this is important:

This Thursday (30th) there's some silly neighbourhood "event" happening. The shop is participating, but the IMPORTANT part is that we're having mini bike races. We've got a few folding bikes and kids bikes, a few bmx's, etc. and we're taking over the grass lot next to the shop for some night time drunken mayhem. If you've got a bike that's too small for any respectable adult (bmx's 20" and under allowed) feel free to bring it out and race that ****. The beer fridge will be in full effect if you want to bring some stuff and keep it cold.

MINI BIKES!!!

PS. 6-10pm is when this is all happening. I'll be racing any little kids that want to participate, so expect me to be in a bloody pile by 8pm (I figure I'll have to throw some races to make everyone feel good).

jet sanchEz 11-28-06 10:10 PM

Which neighbourhood, which grass lot?

shapelike 11-28-06 10:16 PM

Leslieville, 1114 Queen St. East.

That doesn't sound like a fun time at all. Kind of strange that it is getting worse after two weeks. Maybe get it checked out-sitting in the hospital sucks, but then again, so does work.

After 2 weeks I would be a little concerned. I broke a few last year playing rugby, and eventaully had to get muscle relaxer shots from the E.R. and this was in India and it takes ALOT to get me into an India hospital) Seems the ribs made me sleep funny and after a few weeks the muscles started to spasm and sieze. Not fun.

Offhoff 11-29-06 10:56 AM

I busted ribs sailing once and it took a month before I could do anything without pain, I would definitely get a doc to take a look at it there is a lot of things for a broken rib to puncture, bruise, tear or lacerate. Even if nothing is wrong besides some swelling/bruising it will take down your level of concern and stress.

I'm off to surf for the weekend, they tell me it will be cold when I get back...I hate that.

TRaffic Jammer 11-29-06 11:05 AM

^^^ screw you surfer boy^^^ *mad jelous*

rob, check it out and report back!

somnambulant 11-29-06 12:05 PM

Thanks for the advice guys.. The ribs actually feel a bunch better again today, so I think I was right in my theory of just sleeping weird on Monday night. I'm going to take Keith's advice and if they're still bothering me after this weekend I'll make an appt with my doctor.

Also, does anyone know if any shops are carrying Reload bags here? I want to check out their backpacks.
