Nope that wasn't me actually. Did you see the guy's bike? I'm just wondering if I know him. Right now my operational fixed bike is a red and white Mielle conversion with red deep v's. I won't be riding nearly as much until this knee heals but if you see me "holla at ya boy" or whatever.

At that point I was (naively) hoping for a fast recovery, but now that it looks like that is not in the cards I should see someone who specializes in this stuff. Thanks again!

If you are going to try and make an appointment with Doc Woollam, make sure to stress it is a Cycling/Sports specific injury. You may not get in otherwise. He has been my G.P. since I started seeing him for a knee problem 10 or so years ago. Excellent doctor!

Thanks Keith. Actually I just made an appointment with another doctor because Dr. Woolham is booked for a while. I did tell them it was a cycling injury. I think the doctor they booked me with was Dr Ed... something I'm not sure about the pronunciation of the second part. Maybe I'll try back for cancellations or something to try and get in with Woolham it sounds like it's worth trying to get an appointment with him.

How do I do the same for Roncesvalles? It is worse than Korea Town was, believe it or not. Is Adam Vaughn the representative of that area or is he in charge of road-works or something? Thanks.

tovi 12-14-06 12:31 PM

Councillor Glen de Baeremaeker is head of Public Works. This could be a good thing for you- he used to either sit on or chaired the pedestrian something-or-other committee.

Roncesvalles is in ward 14, Parkdale-High Park. Gord Perks is your man.

Offhoff 12-14-06 01:10 PM

As much as it pains me to say this, Adam Vaughn is my ward's city councillor. I happened to see him and corner him at City Hall while I was there on other business but I think going to your city councillor and being somewhat annoying will help get something done.

you'd be surprised how effective calling every five minutes can be :)

Also good to mention that your next call will be to The Fixer column at the star

Yeah.. beverly south of college is brutal still. So is dufferin from college to queen. I think those brick sections were supposed to be for traffic calming and to encourage jay-walking, but I don't think enough drivers actually recognize them as such so it winds up creating more dangerous situations than if it was just a regular street since the peds expect cars to stop.

Yeah, the ice + advil is going to lessen the SYMPTOMS but it's not doing anything to actually fix you up in the long run. The only things that are going to help that are likely rest and physio. Stretching is GOOD. I'm planning on starting a daily stretching routine (yoga-esque) once I'm back from my vacation. I actually found a great quad stretch last night while looking up information on my own kneecap tracking problem. I have it bookmarked at home.. Just PM me later if you're interested.

The animation during the sprint is brilliant, the contorted faces and the sense of pain man animation is an amazing craft.

Edit: My PAC deluxe is ordered and being made...fricken' brilliant

Yeah, I knew I had a problem when I thought to myself: "alright...campy shifters".

I love the obfuscated tame names: P-Phone, Team Pamei.
And that can't be a UCI sanctioned race, they're not wearing helmets?

cavernmech 12-14-06 04:10 PM

Totally off-topic.
A question for the Apple/I-Pod experts out there.
I am getting an I-Pod from Santa. He is out shopping for one as I speak. I have been informed that the 8g Nano and the 30g Video I-pod are the same $. Now I had not planned on having much video in it, just for tunes. Other than the obviously larger storage capacity is there a good reason to opt for one over the other? I know battery drain is more of an issue with the vid one...but 30g over 8g sounds enticing. Thoughts.

operator 12-14-06 04:26 PM

The nano has no moving parts - it's all flash memory (no skipping/more durable) whereas the Ipod video uses an internal harddrive. Rumour has it that the video ipod is about to be deprecated in 2007 with the release of another generation of ipod video.

The nano is obviously also smaller than the ipod video. That's all I can think of. If you're going to be taking it on rides, i'd get the nano.
Calling somnambulant...

Edit: If they are the same price the video ipod is tempting

Offhoff 12-14-06 04:37 PM

nano's will survive longer and have better battery life. They will not show video or hold a ridiculous amount of music. If you need something just for music get the nano, if you want something as a portable harddrive/video/music device get the iPod video. My 2 cents

TRaffic Jammer 12-14-06 05:06 PM

The 30g'r could end up being the sum total of your collection. Also good for passing files back and forth as well. The Nano is mor edurable due to no moving parts, and I've even heard of one being washed in a pocket and coming back to life after an extended drying period.

Still as a portable, 8 Giggos is more than sufficient IMHO. We'll hook some speakers up to a generator at the 24hrs and it'l be a jukebox.

So I can still use the Nano for moving files and fotos back and forth between my 2 computers? If that is the case I think I will go Nano. No moving parts sounds good for my rather clumsy self.
Oh yeah...the current video one will be out-dated next year? A new generation means that there is some prob with the current model?

Offhoff 12-14-06 05:42 PM

Yeah you can use the Nano as a portable harddrive and for photos no problem.

TRaffic Jammer 12-14-06 05:56 PM

I like the size of the Nano. The new shuffle is so small I'd lose it in a heartbeat... Ipod movies are the new baseball cards. *winks* Keith ...the new Nano...will require..NAY demand iTunes7...you have been warned.

No it generally means they bought up all the old x Giggo micro HDs are are now upto the bigger size.
Note how the Ipod HD sizes are one production cycle behind the laptops.....
Laptops move upto 120G standard...Ipod now 80G....
Brilliant buying off old stock from some other manufacturer to fill al hole in your device.
I think the cost of an iPod is about that of an OK steak dinner

*Cue the sinister music* Meaning if I go with the vid model I dont end up having to use the "new, upgraded" software? I heart upgraded software as you know.

cavernmech 12-14-06 06:35 PM

I primarily will be using it as a music device..both on the bike and at home/work (seems like the same thing sometimes). A solid state type thing would be more durable I know. How fragile are the Vid drives? I mean it is a portable device.
