On the scotch front, thanks to the tip of another generous customer I have another to add to the tasting. A bottle of tasty Lagavulin...peaty Islay malt....MMMMMMMMMMMMM.

the Bier Market on Esplanade near St. Lawrence market probably has some.

really?? awesome! Skiing is my favorite thing in the world. I used to be in the ski patrol! I was the cool one who didn't ruin anyones fun unless it looked like they didn't have the skillZ though.. :P I'd pick skiing every day over biking every day easily.. unfortunately I never seem to be able to get anyone together to do it anymore, so I rarely go. If we can get a regular car pool together I'll be a happy little boy.

TRaffic Jammer 10-13-06 09:40 AM

hmm knee brace, .... check.
Could be fun.... We got married a couple minutes from the base, and early road trip might be in order to see what's up there. We rented a few chalets for the wedding and subsequent knock down drag out party., one place had 9 rooms with double bunks, monster fire places card room, bar....

I wanna ride the snow though.....not the dirt, that ****s hard.

Offhoff 10-13-06 09:49 AM

I'll go make a fool of myself with Keith trying this so called "winter sport" if there is a trip being planned

Totally. I did this last year with a pretty large group (~20) and it was really fun. Mass scale cooking all weekend, lots of wine, beer, pot....good times. The skiing is really just icing on the cake.

i usually give a thumbs down to the beir market. tap selection, not that impressive and too many yuppie jerks.

jeremywhitehorn 10-13-06 10:07 AM

sounds like the skiing is just something to do between meals to work up an appetite, and to get rid of the hangover.

i'd try cross country skiing...

TRaffic Jammer 10-13-06 10:32 AM

Well.... you can man it up by carrying a biathlon weapon.

I'm with you, there is something offensive about being dragged in a chair up a perfectly good uphill. I think I'd rather do XC skiing any day-at least around here.

TRaffic Jammer 10-13-06 10:43 AM

^^^^^^^^
To the mountains!!!!!...in Quebec, or BC

Offhoff 10-13-06 10:49 AM

Can't we just go surf in Tahiti and call winter an bad idea in general??

I cross country skiied all through my childhood. While fun and a good workout, having never been downhill it is something I have been meaning to do for many years. Coming from a competitive water-skiing and non-competitive skating background I think I would be comfortable with 1 plank or 2...but it will be 1 for the first trip fo sho.

Shiznaz 10-13-06 11:56 AM

I pretty much went from being the worst and slowest snowboarder at blue mountain at the beginning of last season to one of the fastest (not necessarily best) on the slopes by the end of the season. We went up every friday afternoon of the season, rain or snow, for night skiing and I picked it up really really fast. I had snowboarded twice before last season, years ago, but I've always skiied alot and did a little racing when I was younger. If you've got a skating background you're probably a leg up on what I was already.

Since I'm a working man now, I can't take every friday afternoon off, although I'm saving a few holidays to spend on ski trips. You're gonna have alot of fun Keith and a very sore ass. Also a soggy ass depending on the weather. And a stupid grin on your face.

Shiznaz, do you have any photos of your KHS with fenders on it? I'm thinking of getting one of those eBay special Merciers but want to make sure the fender thing works. Thanks.
