Hey guys, I'm soon to be sportin' my first "fix" in T.O.

Thanks to Keith at Cavern for (literally) giving me a frame on Friday! I am now building up this:

The picture *would* have been of a Columbus tubed Miele road frame in white with a fade to red at the head tube and top of the seat tube. Full braze-ons, which I'm leaving on at least for now. I just want to ride the thing maybe I'll make it look nice later, maybe. Over the weekend I got the headset and bottom bracket in there. Now I just need a crankset and some wheels. Hey Keith want to build me some wheels... and does anyone know if a camera can be resurected from a salt water bath?

Digital, probably not.

Words to your diety of choice may help, you never know. I've had electronics come back to life after a long drying period. My buddy's kid washed and dryied his nano and it started working.

Hehe, I was about to ask if anyone had taken the frame. Was going to beaterize that for campus.

Keith- remember a while ago we were all talking about lights, and you said that you got a sweet deal on a sweet light setup for trails 'n *****?

whatever you get out of there it's going to be baked by a lightbulb, special ingredients or no. now there's a bike ride: make special brownies in an easy bake oven then...well, just ride around really.

yeah, as operator said, maybe a mechanical camera, but digital is iffy, delicate stuff. maybe some sort insurance is the solution?

you can pick up cheap lunches (the epicurean equivalent of having your hair cut at the barber college), at the george brown hospitality building, 300 adelaide st east in the basement. usually under five bucks. usually served around the lunching hour, typically from monday to thursday.

Hey Traffic Jammer, you mean your friend's kid rinsed out the salt water and then let it dry? I guess that's not a bad idea considering it was already soaked.

Jeremy what do you mean by using insurance? Do you mean warranty type stuff? Believe me I'm open to any suggestions I'm at a loss right now.

Operator, **** that was the first thing I did after I soaked it, try to turn it on. I take it that somehow fries it or something? The battery coroded and burst, although I don't think the acid got too far, it just wrecked the casing of the battery and I got it out of there pretty fast. So, I would have to try a new battery. I'm hoping that the memory card will at least work so I can salvage the pics I already got on there. I wish I could say "stupid electronics" but this one was all my bad. ugh.

Try it again after you've let it dry. You may or may not want to rinse it in distilled water to get rid of any salt stiill left in the camera.

I havn't found any real good deals as of yet. If you want a Niterider set for a bit of a deal...but even then they are stupid expensive. Still hunting.

Wasn't salt water but it was soaked. Trying to turn it on right away is generally a bad thing, but the thing we are all most likely to do. Hairdryers can help.

Saving.... then buyin' Gotta have brakes, and campy is the ****, always has been always will be. Trouble with having ridden the best is you have a wicked hard time going back, if you can at all. AND at my age I'm not buyin' a Porsche, so damn it, why not?

i agree on spending the cash on a bike and parts is a wise choice. i gotta ask though: why campy brakes? i mean they're nice and light but don't exactly have a good reputation for stopping. even still, i'd sell a kidney for a set of campy deltas...

Well I wanted to get a set, of Zero G's for the cam action, from what I can see they stop better than anything.... Keith has tried both and said the Campy Skeletons stop just as well, for a fraction of the cost. The Campy's are forged, as opposed to milled. I've ridden Campy brakes on a road bikes since 86, and except for that Delta glitch, I've never had an issue with them stopping. Shimano brakes on the other hand.... In the 90's I replaced a broken spring on a 20 year old set of Record brakes and it was like they were new. If you have alternative suggestions, I'm totally all ears. The bike doesn't all need to be new, I'm trying to be reasonable, I'm thinking a used frame from somewhere. This is for the SS/fixie build up so some time yet, before we are done. My designers' eye is what got me sucked in towards the Zero G's initially, not the weight, homie don't play that. After having you lot vanish on me on Bathurst that night I'm thinkin' I just might HAVE TO start playing weight weenie.

You wanna talk about being Thankful? Who else was given a car this weekend for nada? Thirties? Try 40, and I want both, but can afford neither, so I shall build a bike like no other, in my typical non-linear way. :lol:

There is a reason clichés become clichés. :lol: Mid-life crisis cars each and everyone. Look in the windows of most sports cars commuting into DT and let me know what you see. Very few people in their thirties. More women though which I think is awesome cool.

i always assumed the man-in-sportscar thing was a cliche with some substance. i'll have to have a peek in some windows now. i guess i've been told about campy brakes; maybe i was thinking of the older ones, like the first incarnation of the record group where it was advertised that brakes weren't so much stopping as for "modulating speed". no kidding about those skeletons; designers eye indeed! those are beatiful.
since when are you building up a road bike? giving up the gears eh?
