you might be a luddite, but I've never owned a bike with suspension at all.. back in my hardcore mountain bike riding/racing days in the early to mid 90's I was riding a rigid (steel) Giant ATX-780. And that means I've never ridden a bike with suspension off road. The only bikes with any suspension I've ridden at all were a rental bike in Vancouver and a couple test rides on mountain bikes in parking lots. :P

(edited for coherence)

The bike is great! I haven't ridden with gears for so long, its pretty fun. I managed to snap the chain (!!!) already, so I took out the damaged link and put the chain back together with my chain tool. Now the cassette is making funny noises every so often. How many links can I remove before the chain is too short? Also cantilever brakes are annoying to adjust (at least for me). Chris king rear hubs make a crazy buzzing noise when you coast.

Also gears let you go really really fast. Its astonishing, and I wasn't even using the big chainring at all.

It's too short when you go big big and your bike explodes.
Also too short when your RD is nearly horizontal on big big.

Dude you scooped a piece of history.

Shiznaz 10-07-06 11:40 AM

I can't find anything about lofox on the net after 1995 newgroup posts

TRaffic Jammer 10-07-06 12:13 PM

see this article?
http://joeclark.org/fullface.html

Shiznaz 10-07-06 12:23 PM

I found that article. Didn't read it though. So the Lofox came in only one model and then the company folded after making only 9000 of them. SWEET!

TRaffic Jammer 10-07-06 12:38 PM

I think it's the same lofox that tried to make snowboards in quebec in the early mid 80's.... then I think the shaper ended up doing burton and lamar boards.... from the searching I've been doing, it looks like there might be a connection to Troy Lee Designs somehow. You know how designers go from one company to another over their careers

I don;t know if you are collector of such things but you might want to reconsider the decorating. though being a giant piece of foam you could do sooo much cool haloweeny stuff to it

Shiznaz 10-07-06 01:07 PM

I was thinking of just using various colours of electrical tape to give it teeth and eyes etc.

operator 10-07-06 01:48 PM

Just in time for the halloween CM ride?

STEEKER 10-07-06 02:04 PM

somnambulant 10-07-06 04:03 PM

dude.. it so obviously needs to be made into Pac-Man.

Shiznaz 10-07-06 06:03 PM

I was riding some of the don mountain bike trails on my CX and some dude on a big burly downhill bike was like "You need bigger tires" and I was like "You need a smaller mouth" but I actually just said "Uh-huh.." and kept going.

This bike is fun.
