Had it been an alloy post it would simply have not been an issue. I find I need to crank my steapost binders pretty hard to keep the steapost from slipping, and I don't like to apply that much force to CF. Maybe high end CF posts don't have this problem, but I really don't like the idea of a seatpost being so easily comprimisable.

I had an Easton EC-70 post on my road bike. I'm not sure if that's considered high end or not but it seems like a decent post. Some grit got into the notch on the seat tube- so that when I pulled it out it scratched the post. The resin seems pretty thick and I don't think it's comprimised but I'm not a fan of CF posts in general. The only reason I got it was 'cause it was the only one in the size I needed when I got my frame and I was too excited to build it up than to wait for a different one. I also think you have to be careful about using grease on those 'cause it can damage the resin.

I've replaced it with a Thomson now anyhow since the Easton had too much setback so if anyone is looking for a 31.6 post PM me.

Shiznaz- nice to meet you at CM BTW. I'm not usually so incoherent though. You totally surprised me :o

Heh... Sure does. I saw a post on here about powedercoating places in the city and have been tossing around the idea of a new colour in the spring since.

@I_bRAD: that could have been me. I'm at King & Duff now but used to live right behind to that Loblaws so I sometimes hit it up still. When I take the long way to the store that is ;)

Oddly enough I was just on that page this morning for the second mailbag bit about crankarm length.

Ugh. 24 different spagetti and meat sauce to taste. I am so stuffed and now have 2 hours to finish a term paper. All those carbs, I'm going to pass out on the subway and wake up at Kipling instead of St. George. If I never see spagetti again it will be a day too soon.

somnambulant 12-06-06 02:47 PM

I needs me some vegetarian pasta (sauce) recipes. I've always just used bottled sauce and added extras but I'm getting really really really really sick of that. :P But pasta is just damned convenient to make after a long day. The only thing I make from scratch is basil pesto and aglio e olio (which isn't too tough!).

Easy enough. 3 cloves garlic, 1 onion, 2 carrots, 5-6 mushrooms, whatever other veg you want. 1 small can diced or whole tomatoes, 1 cup red wine, 1tbsp tomato paste, dried or fresh herbs.

Dice veg, heat oil in pan and add garlic and onion, saute until brown, add herbs and salt/pepper, add other veg, cook 2-3 minutes, add tomato paste, cook 2 minutes, add wine, reduce until almost gone, add canned tomatoes, simmer for 10 minutes or so, add sugar if too acidic. When pasta is done add to sauce and cook for 1 minute. Serve and drink rest of wine.

Basically.

the chef that grades our dishes at school carries around a spit bucket so she doesn't have to eat 30 of whatever we make that particular day. this was a particularly good idea when we made mayonaise.

By the end of the day I was having like 1 piece of spag and a smidge of sauce. Otrher problem is too many kids like chili flakes. By the 4th period all I could taste was fire.

No, must resist, keep wallet in pocket...

jet sanchEz 12-06-06 04:41 PM

Yeah, I kinda like carbon seatposts but I have only ridden the Specialized one with the Zertz inserts, which apparently make it more resilient and absorbs bumps better. I dunno know if that means it is less likely to scratch/gouge but so far, I've had no problems. I know that the grease has to be special for carbon, it cannot have any zinc in it, but that shouldn't be too hard to come by. I got the Alter in the mail today, it is sweet.

operator 12-06-06 04:55 PM

They also have special grease for carbon seatposts that slip. They have like microscopic spheres in them or something.

Shiznaz 12-06-06 05:08 PM

Crazy. I fixed my odd BF error. I guess my COOKIES WENT STALE!

Uhm, those kick @ss. I really like the flying jump-kick and the "Making Of" at the end of the first one is cool. Good stuff.

Shiznaz 12-06-06 06:01 PM

Nice, those are way better than the stop motions I have made. Great choice of music for each. The first one makes me think of kid koala videos and the like. Great concept.

PS. I washed out on the streetcar tracks turning left onto wellington from Bathurst tonight. I narrowly missed my ratty cargo shorts and burned a nice hole through my spensive winter cycling pants. Luckily the guy in the SUV behind me didn't run me over! My wrist hurts a little and I have a nice round friction burn on my left knee. Now I have no recourse but to tape over the hole with yellow duct tape.
