Checkout the latest CL listings. Somebody doesn't like cycling anymore. Actual deals to be had!

VNC is the newest, greatest track bike. It can get you past Chinese walls and lets you ride from the comfort of your office. What could be sweeter?

This guy should sell this fork to the guy with the pinarello. Then he'd have a full frameset to sell and wouldn't be offering such a bad deal.

jet sanchEz 12-06-06 10:48 AM

Yeah, those are some amazing prices on that CL stuff, that DA crank is tempting. It is probably all gone by now though, I wonder if the frame that these things came from will ever make it's way to CL?

Shiznaz 12-06-06 10:59 AM

I have the same cranks on my cx bike, but in 170. 175 is pretty long... But might actually be better for me if I was touring (long legs plus it would effectively lower the bottom bracket somewhat of my cross bike)

They are nice and stiff and well made but they certainly don't have as much bling factor as most other DA cranks I have seen. They dont' stand out at all.

TRaffic Jammer 12-06-06 11:04 AM

Hey...those Race Blades are the fenders the guy has on his sexy track bike in the basement.

Yeah, they are a bit older but standing out in Toronto is one thing I don't want my bike to do, so that is okay with me. I won't get them as I don't need them but I think that you'd be hard pressed to find a better crank than a DA one, especially for a hundred bones.

The STI shifters he has up for $80 is super super cheap too and if I didn't already have a set of 9-speed 105 brifters sitting here in new in the box, I would scoop them up.

Shiznaz 12-06-06 11:35 AM

yep, I don't need any of his junk really. How do the different level brifters compare to eachother? I've got ultegra 9sp but I have heard that the DA ones are beyond comparison. I have also heard the tiagra/sora level brifters are terrible.

I'd consider the seatpost but I'm hesitant to buy a used CF seatpost after what I did to mine.

Currnetly the drivetrain on my CS bike is a shimano mess. DA cranks, 105FD, XT RD, XTR cassette, ultegra brifters, ultegra chain. Hey my shifters and my chain match!

The seat stay where it connects to the seat tube looks like it would snap. Such sharp angles!

I've heard that the DA ones are great but finicky ie: once they are borked, there is no going back. I too have Ultegras on my Roubaix and love them. I was thinking of buying the CF seatpost, what did you do to yours? Maybe I should reconsider....

I know the guy selling all this stuff, he's a good guy, works at Cycle Solutions.

He barely rides so most of the stuff should be in pretty good condition.

Do you shop at the Landsdowne/Dundas no frills? I think I saw your bike parked in the foyer there.

Now looks like.That is all.

Shiznaz 12-06-06 01:16 PM

Jet, they are just not durable given their function and operation imo... My bike fell over a few times and twisted the saddle sideways. Now there is a big score going right around the post where the seatpost binder is and I'm afraid to ride it lest it snap off and go up my ass all of a sudden. Had it been an alloy post it would simply have not been an issue. I find I need to crank my steapost binders pretty hard to keep the steapost from slipping, and I don't like to apply that much force to CF. Maybe high end CF posts don't have this problem, but I really don't like the idea of a seatpost being so easily comprimisable.
