I loved my Catlike helmet. Here's my advice to you: Don't let yours anywhere Dublin taxi drivers. Can you believe no one has heard of Catlike in Berlin? (I want to replace mine and will hopefully get some money from insurance. Yet another reason to hate taxi drivers.) I asked at so many fancy roadie shops and had to explain "lots of tour riders use them... their Spanish" etc. One guy said "oh yeah I think I saw a picture once". Are they common in any country anywhere in the world? Geez.

It is an incredible movie, one of my all-time favs. Be warned though, it is gut-wrenchingly sad.

Interesting, it almost sounds similar to Beijing Bicycle (which was excellent by the way, especially if you are fluent in mandarin although the english subtittles were great as well)

The show is Sounds Like Canada and the summer host is Kevin Sylvester, who's a big cyclist.

We'd like you to talk about your friend, what motivated him, what you know about the crash and what we should do about protecting cyclists, the memorial, etc. Martin is going to be a guest too.

how did the CBC get wind of the funeral today? it would be great for someone to speak about charlie and have his legacy cast to a wide audience.

i have to say it was a difficult day but made easier by everyone's presence. it's nice to see that much support amongst us all; you would have made charlie proud (and all looking sharp i might add).

The only thing I might suggest from my previous dealings with media is think of the most dumbass polarizing question you can and have a response ready to bring things back under control. I've gotten hit with a couple of those in the past.

I spoke briefly with Thoby after the service. And being the **** I am wasn't able to say anything poignant, but he did say how much it meant to the family of the support from the biking community and how amazing it was.

I actually ran into martino who told me about the CBC radio thing before I came home an hour ago - I would go, but I don't think i'd be the best person.

I was contacted as well at a bike shop, but I only knew Charlie here on the internet and at bike shops, we never rode together socially, only by chance on Harbord once in a while & a mass or two. He did take time to help me with some questions I had about the way things work here in Canada, thanks to his study of transportation and urban planning.

All I can add about Sue & CBC is that she indicated that it would be aired immediately, hence the strict timing, perhaps live, as I'm fairly certain much of the show is, the host is live. We listen occasionally in the workshop, it's a good program.

That's good advice, keep it human, not heated even though it's a raw subject. It'll be good for people outside of cycling bubbles to know who Charlie was. I just can't believe that someone who was so obviously already part of the solution and going to be a greater part of it in the future could be lost.

it was great seeing everyone make it out to the funeral. not a fun thing to do but it had to be done. Charlie would have been proud to see us all there. just listening to people talk about him made me think he was a guy on track to greatness.

Agreed, I counted 20+ of us which was great to see. There were some faces there I recognized and some that came out of the woodwork (looking at you, sr20), so the support was likely really appreciated.

Sara and I will be at the ride this Friday.
