Operator could use this to get his foot in the door with the photography chicks.
Yes he could...!

Yeah, I hope the seller is able to go wtih USPS, I've been dinged with customs through UPS before. I've tried the gift thing too, it is hit or miss.
1) Use USPS, no FEDEX/UPS
2) If you mark gift with a ridiculously low value they will open it and go, er this isn't worth $5. It's worth more like $5000! Good luck with the ensuing tax/customs.
3) If it's marked gift with a sensibly low value and if something happens to package in transit, you will get zero back. Or next to zero.
4) Ball is in your court

It is not a true touring bike in that it has caliper brakes...but...I have my friends small(49-50cm est) Fiori road/tourer in here on consignment. It has fenders and rear rack on it. Flat bar, 7sp thumbies with a cass rear wheel, older 600 crank. It is actually pretty sweet...light blue and dark blue fade. I think he wants $350 for it but I will double check.

Thanks-let me know what the deal is. Are they long reach brakes? I'm not sure what she needs in terms of sizing yet, I'll have to measure her road bike next time I get a chance. Icing on the cake is the thumb shifters-I still have 7s on my MTB, and the rear shifter is kind of messed up from a crash.

Right, okay I knew that I just forgot. You guys were in Margad right? I was in that room once or twice with Will when he popped in to grab his guitar. Mind if I pry for more information surrounding your near eviction?

A guy in a lame costume jumped out in front of me waving his arms when I was doing about 30 and yelled "BOOO!!!" while I crazily skidded to a standstill narrowly avoiding him. I yelled "What the hell!?!" and he said "Happy Halloween!" and kept waving his arms around like a jackass while his friends laughed in the background. I was like "It would have been real sh*tty for both of us if I hit you. If you do that to a car you're going to get killed. Jackass!" and then he said "Sorry.." and I rode off.

Now I know what its like to be a motorist stopped by critical mass. Albeit, critical mass isn't about jumping out in front of cars suddenly... I dunno, I suppose I probably would have pulled that kind of stunt not too many years ago.

Danhalen, might as well take this to PM

Hmm, actually I'm looking at some Mavic dark grey box rims now on the interweb and they look pretty damn cool. Nice old school vibe. This is a nice looking wheelset:

I'll save all the ones left here for you and drop them off next time I am in K-town.

Edit: Greedy little kids around here took them all.

Another year with trick-or-treaters = 0.

The jack-o-lantern with the knife in it and the note "This is you" is still working (thank you Jack Handy)

I was planning all day on going. Then in the late afternoon I got a courier delivery that changed my mind. I am now officially single! Thats right..the ex is now officially the ex. As much fun as it would have been to ride around for a few hours with drool hanging from my chin, I decided to go out and celebrate my newly found (but not for too long) freedom. Did I mention I am super happy?:D

What the heck Shiznaz..

Shiznaz 11-01-06 08:48 AM

It happens about once a month I'd say.

So I'm track standing between lanes at front of the line at the Spadina intersection going east on Front. I was considering just waiting in the middle of the right lane since right turns on red are forbidden, but I was already to the left of the right lane so I stayed there. Then from behind me this old sh*tcan red honda goes by with a few inches to spare and then slams on the brakes when they are half over the white line because they realize they can't turn right (they didn't end up turning right anyways). I shake my head and can't see the driver so I just keep minding my own business. When advance-green left turning traffic from the west stops, I run the red to get ahead of the eastbound cars and make it to the next lights solo and track stand in between lanes.

A few seconds later the honda pulls up next to me again, fast. I hear an "excuse me!" so I look over and theres this lady in her 50's or 60's talking to me.

"Shouldn't you be riding on the right side of the road?" she said.
"No, I shouldn't."
"I don't think thats right."
"It is. Learn the rules of the road. I am a vehicle just like you, and have as much right to the road as you."
She sort of balked for a second so I added "Maybe they didn't teach you that when you learned to drive in the 1930's"
Then when the light turned green she said "You're going to get yourself killed" So I just flipped her rearview the bird as she sped off. Pretty cool passive-agressive death threat of her huh?

I never have enough time at the stoplights to educate these fartnuggets! In this case it seemed like the lady's heart was in the right place, she was just a total idiot who can't tell her own bad driving.

Maybe I'm a jerk, but had I messed up either trackstand and fallen over she would have turned me into hamburger 100% unnecessarily. I seem to be good at choosing really offensive insults for people who harass me on the road though.

PS. how did the alleycat go?

I always laugh at this one. Essentially every driver I have had a confrontation with has said this to me. *I'm* going to get myself killed? Not really. More like you are trying to kill me.

Shiznaz 11-01-06 09:38 AM

And it always seems that the drivers who have shiny pearls of wisdom to share with me about public roadway use are the same ones that f*ck with me in the first place. SO you put my life in danger, and THEN you have the nerve to lecture me about it? Seriously!
