I've never had an apple logo on my car thankyouverymuch. I did stick one on my bike for a short time as I'd planned on covering the seat tube in stickers, but then I used them all someplace else, so I took it back off.

jeremywhitehorn 01-10-07 02:25 PM

if anyone wants to but corporate logos on their cars more power to them, i just don't understand it. a guy in my culinary class has the visa logo on his toolkit and we're never done ripping into him about being "sponsored" etc.

Shiznaz 01-10-07 02:27 PM

I have one on my Spicer bike. Ugh. It kind of gets drowned out by the other stickers though. I'm not really pro PC at all (I dislike PCs) but I'm pretty anti-mac. Computers aren't meant to be cool!

Mac is the kind of overly slick, overblown, cultural commodity, personal-image-setting advertising I hate. Their products seem alright, but I won't pay for the marketing premium if I hate the marketing itself. That whole Mr. Mac vs. Mr. PC thing. THE WORST! The PC guy is way better anyways. They should just edit the commercial to a PC one "We don't think our farts smell like Chanel 5." Lets not forget the 'think different' campaign, co-opting images of people who 'thought differently' years before mac ever existed.

PS. the best is seeing a passat with apple logo in the rear windscreen parked outside the starbucks with the 4 ways on. Not to pick anyone out of a crowd or anything.

somnambulant 01-10-07 02:32 PM

I drive a Jetta, not a Passat.. I mean, uhh.. :P

Shiznaz 01-10-07 02:36 PM

I know ;) Its more fun to say 'passsss-ott' ' with your pinkie out though

jeremywhitehorn 01-10-07 02:38 PM

i guess that's what you call brand loyalty. whatever happened to youthful anti-establishmentism?

i enjoyed being young and angry.

crap! i'm late for a job interview......

TRaffic Jammer 01-10-07 02:53 PM

I seemed to have more money when I was young and angry as well. I've been converted from PC to MAC but it took, oh, 13years about. Only with OS-X did the MAC ever really start to stand a chance, now with the Intel chipset it's gonna be a good fight. That Steve Jobs, he's a smart cookie just like his bestest buddy Bill.

If I didn't ever game and never had to worry about working with windows i'd use mac. OS X is unixy which is awesome and gay at the same time.

hahaha.. couldn't have said it better myself. I love unix and I'm a tiny bit gay. ;) (and my xbox handles gaming duties)

Damn yeah that is cool! I also think the skid slaloming through the cones is pretty impressive too.

I almost ate it when I tried to grab something out of my trunk pack in the summer

operator, as for os-x you can load multiple os's on the box using parallels or boot camp. I currently run Mac Os-x and XP, I have a fedora install of linux in the wings as well.

Yeah but like a hotrodder I do care about gaming performance even though i'm actually just using my machine to surf bikeforums 99.9% of the time. :)

So we going to do a ride this weekend/tomorrow guys?

TRaffic Jammer 01-11-07 08:10 AM

You'd be surprised how fast apps run with the Dual core intel chip. Mind you a quad Core G5 tower would get the geek in you twitching, it's a nice piece of hardware.

With me being more educationally centric in terms of design and production, I need both to be able to tell clients how to do what it is they need to on either platform and this setup offers the best of both world's from my perspective. Graphics and advertising definitely fall under the cross-platform umbrella, and it's nice to be able to test a site under several browsers on one machine. Plus you never know when a client dumps a PC file for an ad and you HAVE to make it work for the deadline.

Phew. Good thing none of my computing practices have any applicability to the real world ;)

Is there any reason why you wouldn't use VMWare as well?

cavernmech 01-11-07 08:48 AM

The forecast for Saturday is lookin a little more promising. Ride and pints as per Offhoff's suggestion?

TRaffic Jammer 01-11-07 08:53 AM

Parallels is the new VM, I can get the windows task bar on my mac and the PC desktop is hidden so it seems like the app is running in the MAC environment with the latest version. There is also an app that WILL run a Winapp directly in OS-X.
