The Corrections, an amazing read as well, is by Jonathan Franzen.
Oh oh, Bike Forums book club .....here we go. |

i work for a small publisher, and my boss (who's from san francisco) hates all the mcsweeney dudes because they act like the rockstars of the literary world. what publisher do you work for? my wife and i are former publishing world / book people. here's one mcsweeney's title everyone here could enjoy. |
Bicycles Locked to Poles is a rare treasury for anyone interested in bikes, poles, locks, or the forgotten artifacts of the urban landscape. |

Eggers managed to have 70 brilliant, breathtaking pages in heartbreaking work out of what 300? I like some of his short fiction but Delillo owns him (Pafko at the Wall anyone? You may also know it as the opening chapter of Underworld) Delillo takes Franzen too. Cory Doctorow's "Someone come to town Someone leaves town" is brilliant too. I agree that the McSweeney's guys have grown a bit big in the britches and Eggers is way too easy to dislike for me to want to defend.
Oh and for my two cents the best Hemingway is "For Whom the Bell Tolls" everyone should be forced to read Capote's "In Cold Blood" "Kafka On the Shore" Murakami is awesome too. |

Snow ride- Just start riding north. You'll find snow eventually |

Come here and take the fork off my bike, and hammer out the head set.... hilarious |
Reading the Odyssey is a light and simple read compared to Joyce. I noticed that ad and immediately thought that this guy is just trying to get out of paying his LBS to do the same job. Kind of ridiculous to charge for someone to come over and remove parts from your bike. I mean what happens if damage occurs etc?
As for Operator's request, when he shows he has mastered the full sentence and paragraph we'll move away from books. |
It IS for your own good Rob. It's because we care.
