Pink Bianchi?

As you can see, the BB shell doesn't look so nice.
Can anyone verify the workmanship of this (assumed mid-low-end) frame?
Compared to some newer .IT and .CO.JP BB shells this thing looks like poo.

Old low end Bottechia. The shell was prolly rolled from flat stock...welded and threaded...thus the weld line under it. Cast lugs and B.B. shells wouldnt have been used on a low end frame back then. They flooded the N.A. market with cheapo bikes in the 70's. Still would make a decent winter bike/conversion.

Cool. I dig the pump pegs. Looks like it would make a great beater.

darkmother 12-08-06 10:23 AM

BTW, anyone (Cavernmech?) know where I can get a french BB shell faced and chased. I toasted the BB cups in my frame with minimal milage-perhaps 2000 km. I had the BB adjusted *just* tight enough to eliminate play, but still I had binding at one spot during spindle rotation. I suspect the the BB faces aren't parallel-or the LH RH threads aren't cut on the same axis-or both. Don't want to wreck another set of french cups.

my first instinct would be to call malcom at biseagal.

I second biseagal super helpful and kind of a cool store to see, its tiny and stacked with nifty things.

Malcolm could prolly do it, however I doubt he has french taps. If it only needs facing then any decent shop could do it. If you need thread chasing then I would call Mike or Tom at Bicycle Specialties...they would shurely have a French tap set.

gokiburi 12-08-06 12:44 PM

i felt like someone injected novocaine into my cheeks after riding in to work. sheesh it's not even january yet..

Shiznaz 12-08-06 12:54 PM

I wore my balaclava and clear shades. Any less would have frozen off my face, especially because I am usually out the door about 5 minutes after shaving.

I will consider shaving again in March....until then the Grizzley Adams look will suffice for face warming.
Also I have a 56cm Nishiki Olympic...tange tubing....free for the taking if anyone can use it.

shaving's for chumps. :P I've got my winter-coat growing in nicely. ;)

shapelike 12-08-06 01:07 PM

Not that I'm a furry monster or anything, but I stopped using a razor almost as soon as I had a need for it. I just clip and go around w/ perma-scruff.

Yep shaving is totally for chumps. Chumps that work at the bank...

Its the office christmas party tonight. Some of you guys should try to crash it. Alice Fazoolis on Richmond from like 5:30pm onwards. The occasion is semi formal so I'll be in a tie and jacket!

shapelike 12-08-06 01:11 PM

*tosses keys* Hey, don't forget to lock both wheels and the frame - and no joyrides! Here's a free patch kit for ya.
