Wore the wrong gloves this morning....froze my finger tips and warmed them with cold water upon arrival at the office. owwwy...

There's a guy at my office who rides a sweet DA'd GT road bike...full race setup. Ended up accidentally emailing one and other ...look what he bought Friday for the winter and the rain....sweeet.

ssweeeeeeet...

Nice. Never seen an Aquila track frame before. That seems kinda dumb for the winter though, I mean, no place for fenders and probably 25c max tires size. Unless you're joking of course.

I was pretty warm coming into work except for my right pinkie which for some reason went numb.

PS. my favorite little trails on the spit that I did yesterday were the sandy ones that go out from the little sailing club, and then some of the beat up service roads where I was practicing bunny hopping into (unforntunately not over) rocks and puddles.

TRaffic Jammer 12-04-06 08:54 AM

I don't Think he was joking. If and when he starts riding it in I'll let you know, we all park together in the executives' underground. I like that service road to the sailing club ..my daughter and I have ridden into there. She's a champ.

Shiznaz 12-04-06 09:07 AM

I got up to about 45km/h going down the straight gravel road to the club. It felt like I was just barely skipping over the surface. I haven't ridden on sand for ages either. I should go and ride those sandy trails more as its good practice for riding in snow. Hitting a long patch of sand at a decent speed and fishtailing around a corner is damn fun too. I bumped into a guy with a mountain bike making a camp fire on one of the secluded little beaches. Looked nice and warm. Good idea, we should give it a try some time.

TRaffic Jammer 12-04-06 09:53 AM

if you follow that road all the way to the end the beach there is really nice .... my daughter and I sit there and look for rocks to collect and the birds lounging around. WE saw a HUGE fish buzz the beach one day, gliding by us nice and slow. It fills my heart with pride that my 9 year old can ride almost that entire pathway from road to beach.

Does that mean you are proud of me too?

Always Shizzy.. :p .. though I do except you to make back upto the road without getting off. Her, not just yet...and she's on SS. She's a trooper though, she wiped out on a speed wobble coming down the bridge at Riverale Zoo a couple summers ago, carved and bounced.... got up and rode again. Now she's got bigger wheels and she loves it.

I grew up right in that area. I always had a healthy respect for those hills after I had a nasty spill going straight down the grass hill when I was little. I guess I just hit the brakes wrong because I pretty much just went over the handlebars when it leveled out!

I also had a close call on rollerblades on the path inside the farm that goes up the hill (desperately grabbing onto the chainlink fence adjacent to it!)

There's a nice Bottechia road bike up on CL for $80 and it is a 54; I thought about buying it to re-sell the frame on eBay but I have too much crap around here as it is. It looks nice.

TRaffic Jammer 12-04-06 11:12 AM

Yeah, he has been trying to sell that for ages now. He was asking $500 about 2 months ago and then it was up on eBay with no bids and now it is back on CL for $396; it is a beauty but I think that without a fork, he really needs to ask for less money.

Hrm, hard to say: 56cm model (measured to top of seat collar); 54cm Top-tube centre to centre

I would guess that it is more like a 54 and looking at it, yeah, it appears to be on the small side. I wonder what happened to the fork?
