Keith (or anyone), do you have a cost of a set of long-pull single pivot brakes? Cheap is fine, since they're going on a bike to ride to the grocery store with.

Sorry...yer vernacular is a little cloudy. You need long reach(?) road style brakes? I def have a rear long reach cheap. Front may be trickier.....perhaps a Mafac Racer centerpull?

You need to remove one side rail to install the new belt...not a big deal.

Something like this: Tektro R556 Long Reach

Edit: But now that I think about it, I think I only need rear. Score!

To deal with the terminology question: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle...bicycle_brakes

I seem to have what Wikipedia says are Single pivot side-pull calliper brakes. Can I use Dual-pivot side pulls?

Yes. Assuming the single pivots use recessed allen bolts and they are of the correct reach.

So my brakes are not recessed, and I don't want to go through the issues of the making them so. So I guess I need the original single-pivot kind.

Bike Jousting...a lost sport, purely for the blood sport entertainment value of the spectators. I was thinking we'd have a saftey meeting while watching the carnage, and the beaten, bloodied warrior who emerges victorious gets the tickets. It does seem a little over the top for a 5$ ticket, but hey, you get your fun where you can, you know? I think Keith would like the jousting as well. I KNOW the crackheads would find it endlessly amusing.

Knowing full well it'll be first come first serve at Cavern. ...accept for 2wheelsgood, he bought me off with a borrow of his Trials DVD.

Do I have to use a lance or is a mace acceptable? I've got a pretty good backhand.

I only wear one because the other has just slapped you in the face, demanding satisfaction.
