There was a bit of discussion a couple of weeks ago about ordering from Nashbar with that free shipping code, has anyone received their stuff? I just got mine and there is an invoice with a shipping and handling fee. When I ordered online there was no mention of it, this must mean that the free shipping didn't apply to Canada. The stuff is still cheap but what a bummer, us Canucks always get the screwjob!
edit: Just got the phone and yeah, no free shipping to Canada. It would have been nice if that had been mentioned on the website and I informed the woman of this. If I hadn't already unwrapped the 105 brakes and determined that they kickasss, I would return them, oh well. It is still much cheaper but not as great a deal as I had initially hoped for. |
Umm.... guys... fellow Torontonians... I got a question for you that's not related to fixies, but I hope you forgive me. Does anyone know where I could rent a tandem bike in Toronto? My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I had an idea of a tandem ride as part of the plan, but I don't know if it's doable. The only place that rents tandems in Toronto seems to be the Island Rentals, and they are not going to be open for a couple more months anyway. There is also a place in the East end that rents "historical" bikes to the media and they have a 30's tandem, but I doubt they'd let me have it just for a few hours for a friviolous birthday spin.
So, does anyone know of any place I overlooked in my search? Or maybe you even know an individual who owns a tandem and would be willing to make a few bucks by renting it to a very careful cyclist that is myself? *sigh* Probably not, but at least I tried. :) |
We will let you off this one time, but we normally don't tolerate off topic conversation. Yes, we have been speaking about fixed gears for almost 700 pages. We are, simply put, the real deal.
I don't know if these people rent but they sell them and may know where to rent one: http://www3.sympatico.ca/vandevelde/index2.htm I seem to remember seeing a booth at the bike show for a place that rented out tandems but I can't remember for sure. |

Warren Cycle Works on Queen East has an old CCM cruiser bike tandem in the window...it is certainly not new so he might be willing to rent it out. Be forewarned though...the guy in there is a bit surly and can be hard to deal with. You may want to try Sandy's Cycle up on Laird...they are tandem specialists and might have something for you to rent. Maybe try a Craigslist ad...someone out there prolly has one they would be willing to rent. |
When we hit 1000 pages this thread will gain self awareness and start posting in itself. Then it will overtake Google to be the ultimate source for information. We will have to find some other venue for our banter.

Always partial to the Benidict burger at Lakeview Lunch myself. Burger with back bacon, poached egg and hollandaise sauce. So nasty yet soooo good. Esp. with a shake. Ah the good old days when worrying about my health was drinking 12 light beers to cut out calories. |
lovely arguement ensued with payroll at the TDSB this afternoon. Went along the lines of
TDSB: We overpayed you $4500 in November and want it back Me: I paid it TDSb: No you didn't Me:Yes I did etc and so on.... Went on for a while until the moron finally checked his records and oh yes I had paid. Assmunch. I still want bacon too. |
