Smart man! The perfect solution. Thanks!

TRaffic Jammer 04-12-07 03:39 PM

Shiz.. I musta missed the post ....what the hell happened to your crank ring?

Shiznaz 04-12-07 03:54 PM

this was a couple of years ago. I was riding to meet up with gokiburi at bathurst and king. I rode over some streetcar tracks at bathurst and queen, and my cranks exploded all of a sudden. Luckily I didn't die and used my shoe to stop the rear tire (I have a nice friction burn on my shoe straps, and a little scar on my instep/ankle now). I had to carry the bike the rest of the way and then we met this weird guy who had an insane lowrider chopper bicycle.

Oh and my bartape does match my saddle which is likely why I only barked my knee a bit. Not even worth a photo.

Or if you drill 2 holes you can use a B.B. pin tool..that is what I usually do.

Shiznaz 04-12-07 04:08 PM

Thanks keith. Cam's answer, however, was superior to yours as it took into account my no pin spanner having self.

Offhoff 04-12-07 04:13 PM

Keith I keep missing bringing that bike in, but work has been hellish and by hellish I mean busy which isn't really all that bad. I actually prefer it when I don't have lots of downtime. Anyways worst comes to worst we'll ride without his big ring were not out to win, just look good while trying!

On that topic I have DVD that play in real DVD players of the race so if you'd like one just post or come out tommorow night and I'll give you one.

2wheels I'm so gonna ruin all the contintuity of your shoot tomorrow and then they'll blame those damn bike couriers for you having to redo everything, because I'm evil. No really thats the only reason.

Now for food and then hot hot bath.

They're an old set of Sakae's. Looking at the break, some of the metal is a different colour which makes me suspect a hairline crack that's been there a while. I was lucky I was just coming off a stop sign and not riding a 61cm frame. Now I have to find another set of 144BCD 170mm cranks. I'm watching a pair of Super Mighty's on ebay right now or I could just change to something with a little less esoteric. I've got a set of Campy Chorus cranks in the mail that were intended for the pinarello, but maybe I could put a new bb in the Ciocc and put them on there... sigh... will it never end?

Oh and for you east enders, Pizza Pide at Gerrard and Pape ftw. I went in a few weeks ago as he was closing and he gave me a free slice. Went back last week for the pide (number 18 is highly recommended). http://pizza-pide.com/menu.htm

i love places that have eggs as toppings. you can pretty much put a fried egg on anything and it'll taste good.

TRaffic Jammer 04-12-07 05:32 PM

Hey gang ...is that Krylon/tagger shop at Spadina/Queen still around?
Once I sand the frame..(recommends for a finishing grit?)....I was thinkin' a metal flakie of some sort. Ideas?

Hey better then eating many cheese burgers & cracking your frame! But it sucks all the same. At least you were not far away from home or going down a hill!

T.J. has a frame look out woo hoo.

cavit8 04-12-07 08:17 PM

Pyze, I'm going to be ordering a half-link from misfit psycle. Do you want me to grab you one? They also appear to be having a minor sale, so I'll likely pick up a couple of chains while I'm at it. http://psyclestore.com/

Awesome. 1 halflink and a 16t cog, this one would be great.

Edit: Ah yeah, remeber to check that you are paying Can dollars on the site, I messed up on that and shorted the guys abit the first time I ordered from there. And let me know the shipping, I'll split the cost with you.

Okay, anyone else want anything to save on shipping? I'll put the order in on Saturday.

I am, see above edit.

jeremywhitehorn 04-12-07 09:02 PM

silly question: why not just buy this stuff locally?

cavit8 04-12-07 09:17 PM

Not silly at all, I do try to support shops east of Jarvis whenever I can, but I've been unable to find anyone who stocks half-links. Shapelike stares at the wall whenever I ask him and I'm pretty sure I asked Keith (but if you do have any, Keith, let me know). But speaking of buying locally, Keith, do you have a crankset in 144 BCD or, if not, a relatively budget crankset for which a 44t ring is reasonably easy to come by? pm me! :D

Danhalen 04-12-07 09:19 PM

Offhoff,

I'll let you know tomorrow if I'll make it to Dumpling House or not. I'm probably going to go home first after work. Then again I do live right around the corner from there... Whatever I'll let you know tomorrow. I'm psyched for the race. Should be fun. I really want to beat Sean McImsococky.

Colin,

You should decide you need to get some more film or something on set and call Critical Path to pick it up from some fancy film store or something. Say you'll only deal with "917 Daniel". Then I'll show up and we'll hang on set. Sound good? ROCK AND ROLL. Are you going to race tomorrow?

Wow that guy is really good. I'm amazed at his ability to ride backwards and keep it up. Wow!

i bought a half link a few years ago at urbane. not sure if it was intended for internally geared hubs or whatever but it was a 1/8".

and yes, staring at the wall is something shapelike does from time to time.
