I took a look on the off chance some of those bikes may be floating around. No luck, but did come across this 62 cm cyclops in Van http://tinyurl.com/yu6dg9

^^^ I was telling Keith about this one. I am surprised no one has snapped it up.

Wow, the complete bike for $250? That is a steal compared to the $600 Mieles and $400 suicide fixed-gear conversions that have been inundating the Toronto CL lately....

Yeah that's a really ****ing good deal. I don't remember howhe got it but Shiznaz used to have a cyclops track frame.

that cyclops is an amazing deal, my size too. damn i wish i had the money and didn't have another road bike project on the go.

He got back to me and the Cyclops in Vancity is sold....

I remember him telling the story at one of the bike show's about driving all the way out to Welland,On. To pick it up. I think it was shortly after Canadian cyclist was introduced on the thread.

Looks great man! Don't get it painted, it looks great. If you do get it painted, please please get decals, otherwise who cares that it's a Cyclops! Wear the badges proudly (notwithstanding what Rob probably has to say about this)!

I'm with Jet about dark stuff on white bikes. If it was my bike this is what I would do. I would track down an old C Record Group and lace the hubs to some Open Pro CD's (the dark grey anodized ones). Get a Nitto Bar and stem (they make some super nice old school looking bars that have a fairly flat top which works great with brake hoods and their Pearl Quill stems have an amazing finish). Black saddle and either white bar tape (not white cork, old bike ribbon or Fizik tape, those ones actually stay white) or black bar tape with white finishing tape. Veloflex tires. (This is what I did on my Guerciotti and I'm sooooo happy with the way it rides/looks. Although I'm still looking for C Record Cranks [need longer cranks anyway] shifters and rear derailler).

I'm totally into the mid to late 80's road bike look, although I also like Jet's interpretation with the newer wheel set and shifters too! Oh and screw 8 speed indexed shifting if you go Campy. Just go with Friction, the indexing on Campy 8-speed sucks and never works totally right. I love my friction shifters now that I got the hang of 'em. Lower maintenance too.

Welp, I feel like I've lost a friend...I just sold the Marinoni. I didn't have it for very long but it rode nicely and I got a lot of compliments on it, I am pouring out a 40oz for her right now....may her new owner always find that pothole-free road and the well-lit lockup...cheers.

WOrd to not painting the Cyclops, looks great as is. Don't worry Jet, there's other bikes and rides for you. :) I'm jelous of you cats with the stable of bikes. mm friction Campy period correct and you'll be a happy camper. Maybe a NOS Mavic Starfish crank for bling.

All this talk of Meloche Monnex brings back memories of doing one of their 3 daily orders with Critical Path. It was a really easy run. 2200ish Yonge, up to 20 Eglington W and back. The only catch was that I had to take whatever internal mail they had going in between their two offices, as well as everything going to the post office. Sometimes that was a LOT of stuff. Heavy and awkward, but only for like one block. 15 minutes tops (if I had to wait in line at the post office) and a nice paying call. One day I did all 3 dailies. I was apparently only the second in my dispatcher's history to do that. Good times.

i say don't paint the frame nerdsgirth; a bit of patina on a bike is always nice. personally, i would source out all silver components save for the mavic rims that dan mentioned. and on that bike, some great old campy friction shifter would be the bee's knees. i plan on doing something like that with my repainted schwinn but with friction bar end shifters, nitto bars/stem and all older shimano 105.
