Actually, I figured out the date on my own. I think they are just trying to be clever, as spring starts on March 21st, and the flyer says "SEASONS CHANGE AND REARRANGE". Still it is awfully oblique for the multitudes of people less intelligent than myself.

thanks for the Urbane tip! They actually have in stock what I'm looking for. I'll go check it out today. It was either buying this https://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...1308&rd=1&rd=1
or finding a cheaper local alternative. Seems the exact fork I'm looking for comes stock on Urbanites. Unless anyone has anything bad to say about those ones...

Yeah, the other guy who used a tensioner on FGG had it on the other side of the chain braced against the chainstay.

It actually works better like that because it gives you more tooth grab...on a single speed. It doesn't always fit like that, but do it if you can. FG ya'll? I say nay!

so i got some bike cops to pull over an aggressive driver on my way home just now. i waited for them, and then rode over to see what happened. i should have gone back right away because she gave them some sob story and since i totally neglected to tell them a few more details which would have shown her to be full of $hit no tickets were given. i talked with two of the cops for a while, and asked them some questions. when i asked about how they defined "stopping" the veteran one said that as long as a cyclist slows down and at least looks both ways at stop signs, he'd consider it stopping, but that it was open to individual interpretation. they were very approachable (and jealous of my nice bike) but still cops.

Its funny because we have all seen and talked about that guy before, and he is always there, and I bet so many other people know of him too. I want to see a christmas tree with high end racing bikes hanging off it for ornaments like he always does to the pole outside ideal.

Does anyone know if the snow and ice has melted off of the Martin goodman trail from Roncesvalles to Parklawn yet?

Bikes: Menonite black urbanite, probably enough spare parts to make anther one.

Dan, thanks for the tip on the black cycling cap - picked it up at racer sportif this afternoon. while i was there i spotted the object of my affections: baby blue lugged aquila track frame in columbus steel in my preferred size. unfortunately i don't have $790 right now...

i've heard second hand that it's not. the city doesn't clear it either so even without the ice, all the sand and crud is still there.

My "commuter" is a converted mountain bike so sand and crud isn't a big deal. Darkness+Ice+drinking is another story however! Thanks for the info.

went to the car wash!
got rid of the crud!
wipe down and lube on the deck!
drying in the sunshine and the neighbour sawing wood next door = bike covered in sawdust!

Tonight I need to do a spring tune up on my flite 100 commuter and reassemble the cyclops to go to FCV on saturday, but I don't have a proper bar set up for riding in groups.. only bullhorns. Basically I have all these oddball stems and only 26.0 drop bars. maybe I can just borrow the stem and bars from one of the rentals.

If anyone has a 1" threaded quill stem in 26.0, preferably with a removable faceplate and preferably with some rise that I can borrow for the weekend I would be grateful. Or if you have cinelli drop bars I can borrow.. or nitto drop bars... Oh boy..

yes, older cinelli bars are 26.4mm

i learned this the hard way last weekend when i bought a new salsa stem, thinking my bars were post-switch to 26. and now i have a scratched up bar to show for it, and still my old, way-too-long stem.

Yeah, they are 26.4

I have a cinelli stem with no cinelli drop bars

Nittos are 25.4

I have a nitto stem with no nitto drop bars (except for some track drops that are too low for that bike)

standard road is 26.0

I have 26.0 drop bars no 26.0 threaded stem

So basically I'm screwed! Maybe I'll just shim the damn cinelli stem and hope my bars don't fall off...

Wanna trade your bars for my bars? Mine are just generic road drops wrapped in black cork that came on my flite 100. I have other goodies as well as monetary compensation... scratches bother me not.

I better doublecheck to see if my cinelli stem is actually 26.4. It came off a 1990 pinarello, so it could be either.
