For the east vs west challenge I would assume Yonge is the reference point for east side or west side. As far as a race route goes, I am a proponent for an alleycat style vs riding on a running track. If T.J. really wants to keep it away from traffic perhaps the Commisioners, Cherry, Unwin, Leslie loop could be an option. It is still on the street but with less in the way of random traffic and still has enough distance to make it interesting. I like the idea of having it alleycat style with maybe 4 or 5 different manifests...everyone goes at once, and then just award points based on finishing order. This would split people up to a fair degree and then the whole city is our playground. I hereby offer up the back alley at the shop for post race festivities....perhaps a nice keg from Mill St? the brewmaster there is a customer. I have a digital projector that we could show some movies on the wall with. This could be the first feature. My favorite line..."with her mustard shoes and ketchup sash shes a real HOT DOG!"

This is sounding awesome!

Movies in the alley would be kick ass.

I was thinkin there would be say 5 manifests...not really east or west side specific. Each team, dependent on how many starters there are, would get an equal # of each manifest. It would be up to each team to distribute the manifests among the team members. Every racer gets 1...so if there are 20 starters for each side, 4 people from each team would do the same manifest. as there would be a crapload of checkpoints they dont really need to all be manned...have a few from each manifest be manned...but dont tell the starters which ones to keep everyone honest.

Duppy has DDR for ps2 with two mats ..... In the alley behind the shop Jeremy.

Keith I'm liking the cut of your jib. This way the fastest riders from each team would be assigned the farthest checkpoints. So the slower riders...myself incl wouldn't feel useless. I liiike. Gold Jerry GOLD!!!! We'll sit down later so I make sure I gots what your sayin'. This way it a team ride on the streets (which really is the way it should run), isn't all grouped up like a giant accident waiting to happen. hmmmm

hahaha.. If he brings DDR, I'll bring Guitar Hero I/II. :)

TRaffic Jammer 07-24-07 08:27 AM

I'll ask my daughter if I borrow her Guitar for GH... I have a bud who is brew master as well, he's more than likely good for some keggage. Keith if we get Red Bull involved maybe they can help with the check points. What's the capacity of your alley man?.... this is genius Keith.

Dancing and riffing for extra team points?

TRaffic Jammer 07-24-07 08:29 AM

Sweet. All we need is a Goldsprint setup to put this over the moon. Jees I gotta sit down I'm gettin' dizzy.
So if there enough check point ppl we can actually have physical pick ups with sigs #'s and times. To be returned to base and counted up... brilliant Keith.

Beer and Red Bull sponsorship for the bevvies. I am sure between all the shop hook-ups we all have we could come up with a ton o prizes. Once cleaned up I am certain the alley could handle everyone. All my neighbors out back are cool with me doing events and parties. It would be fantastic if we could keep all the folks who ride in the actual race rather than have em do checkpoint duty. Maybe make one of the manifests a scavenger hunt style for those who perhaps are not super fast and/or into hammering through town. Britain St. could be used for skids and the finish line. This could happen pretty soon if we really put some effort in. The big question.....who is gonna relegate themselves from racing to organize the manifests?

TRaffic Jammer 07-24-07 08:42 AM

Red bull girls for check points. I'm thinkin' I should bow out of racin' at this point, as it's my big mouth and fingers that seemed to have pushed the snowball off the top of the ski run. We will have to wait for Dublin folks to return at the very least. I could ride around and find some nifty check point spots within a reasonable zone area.... you know you're goin' far Keith. You and Jim K mano a mano

I will let Bradyn or Teddie handle Kuz....he is out of my league.

TRaffic Jammer 07-24-07 08:50 AM

Bradyn better bring the race gun then. Jim and Petey make a tough 1-2 Petey leadin' out

Request: no racing between July 28th and August 3rd.

Request #2: if anyone's interested in donating to a good cause, I'm doing the bike ride to Montreal again this year for the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation. It's all to raise money for services to help people living with AIDS around the GTA. The ride leaves this Sunday and I'm still supposed to be coming up with ~$1000 in pledges (!!!) ... so ya, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone gots the hosting where we could slapdash up a site in the next couple/few weeks? End of Aug tentatively to race....what say? Number of riders and classes will need to be done for each 'gang' so the teams are even. Individuals can run it loner style against the teams if they so desire/dare? Mike, wouldn't imagine runnin' it while you are doing the good deeds.

:) Awesome. Shoot me an email with any details once everything is more solidified and we'll get that ****er set up!

On a totally unrelated note: When I come to the forum I always have to click "Last Page" in order to get to the most recent stuff - is there any way to edit preferences to have the most recent posts shown first?

When you click on the thread link "Toronto Fixed"; assuming you are already logged in. It will take you to the last post you have not read since your last login.

Assuming that you don't get impatient and cancel.

I'm still loving my Shimano SH-MP66 shoes, which I think Urbane still sells.
